Pod Xp Is Expired, Deceased, It Is No More.....

Recommended Posts

Dear all, has anyone had a pod kidney XP just cease to light up like mine did two nights ago? I purchased a new PSU thinking that must be the problem but no, still dead as a Dodo. My unit is about 5 or 6 years old I guess so am asking those who may know if it could be the Lithium battery that may have failed thus causing this black out? I am happy to replace for a new unit if the cost is of a new battery is over £50 - £60 as a new HD model is only £255. You quick response would be most appreciated as I need to resolve this problem quick smart.

Many thanks, Trev.

There isn't any sort of battery in the PODxt or any of the PODs, for that matter. All the memory in these units is EPROM based, so there's no need for a battery. So something else is causing your unit to not power up.

Oh OK thanks for the heads up. Strange indeed. I guess a new unit is called for alas. Just out of interest would you recommend the HD Pro over the HD bean? I just home record not gig but killer sounds are very important to me. I read somewhere that the presets in the pro are pretty naff which put me off a bit as I rely on presets to get my sounds started then tweak to suit. Any advice would be welcom.

The Bean and the Pro are the same processor, so there's really no difference in the sounds you can get from them. The Pro does give you the effects loop which may or may not matter to you, and it gives additional I/O options, including a Variax VDI input. So it really depends on what form factor you like, and what ins and outs you need.

Thanks for that, I guess as I don't know what any of these things are I don't need em. You have helped me make up my mind which I thank you for.

Sorry one last question as since the XT things have moved on a bit. Is it right that if you connect the HD bean to PC you can edit sound on your screen rather than use the LED display on the unit, is this riight?
