Does not keeping "existing patches" erase user setlists?

You can save your setlists separately in Edit and then load them back to the User Setlist slots after doing the update. There's really no way of getting around it if you want to load the new setlist with the firmware update.

EDIT: I shouldn't say it's the only way, really. If someone wanted to, they could save the Variax Setlist and post it up here for people.

I don't believe the setlists are changed when you load the new firmware (they didn't for me). Ya get all the patches but the setlists are whatever you had before the firmware upgrade. You have to do a factory reset after you load the new firmware to get the new Line 6 setlist names. So you should be good to go.

Well, just to be clear, it's the "Global Settings Reset" you have to do. It's not the same thing as a factory reset. If you do the global settings reset after you do the update (which you should do), it won't erase your existing presets if you chose to leave them during the update. It will rename your setlists, though.
