procletnic
Hello friends, I'm sorry if this has already been answered (I searched for the topic but couldn't find an answer). After the new firmware update (and considering you have the new metal amps), would it be possible to now load pod XT patches to the pod HD? silverhead
No. Still can't be done due to the different device architectures and preset file structures.

clay-man
No offense, but that's like asking a Windows to do a Mac thing or a Mac thing to do a Windows thing. Just because it has amps from XT now, doesn't mean it can load XT presets, because like silver said, the engine is different. It's why you can't load Workbench files into Workbench HD, even though they "do the same thing" (emulate guitars)
procletnic
since some of the models included into the model packs for the HD platform are ported from the XT/X3 technology it should be possible to copy (and not diretcly load them) into the HD the settings of the XT/X3 patches that use the ported models, and get very close results to the originals Yes, that was my 2nd plan as well :) No offense, but that's like asking a Windows to do a Mac thing or a Mac thing to do a Windows thing. I'm pretty sure I can code a converter for pod xt to pod hd patches considering I have documentation about the data structure and all necessary specifications (sure, the tone would be a bit different but essentially it will save me the effort to manually copy the whole chain from one editor to the other). Also, both Windows and Mac can run Java applications ;)
spaceatl
Line 6 went down this road before....Technically, this is nothing more than a data adapter. However, the problem is that you have to determine what the substitutions, delineations and approximations would be for all of the things that are different. In the XT generation, we could switch patches between an XT, XLT, XT Pro, Flextone III, HD147 and Vetta II....However, the reality is that even in the same architecture it was mostly a novelty feature as most folks that tried it came on the board complaining how it did not translate all that well...The substitutions for missing models did not always make sense...XT to HD probably isn't worth the time....By that time you coded the adapter, you could have ported your patches manually...But if it seems to be worth your time, I say go for it... I'd rather do it manually of course (I have several XT patches that I use on my Pod XT) but it would've been nice to have such implementation, although after reading your comment I can now fully understand why they didn't choose to go that way.
