Sure it's curious, and sometimes you have to explain the smell, but ultimately I'm more invested in how they sound. The smell is pungent but I doubt it's dangerous.

My speakers smell like weed......I mean they seriously give off the aroma of marijuana.....
I was tempted to open them up and see if someone had hidden a stash in there but that would be a silly idea..........right? :-p
Dude, I'm afraid to carry my L3T in my car. It smells like the strongest skunk bud you've ever come across. My buddy is convinced it was used to smuggle dope. He wants to take the thing apart. Seriously, it reeks.

I was at the dealer here sniffing the speakers....Not realizing I was being "observed" hahah....quickly had to explain to the staff that I read about the smell on this forum.....didn't smell anything....but I'm sure watching some guy sniffing speakers was quite entertaining for the others in the store!

But seriously, I'm loosing my sense of humour over this. I keep them in my small 10 X 10 studio in my garden and when you open the door now the smell would kill you. I took one back into my house this week to hook up my variax and HD 500 to program some sounds and yesterday my thirteen year old daughter said "This place sticks, I'm finding it hard to sit down here".
That is not good for any product let alone one as expensive as these.
I think I'm going to go to Guitar Guitar next week and speak to the manager to see if there is replacements that do not smell cos the longer I leave it the less rights I have. If I'm honest if they had not been such amazingly good speakers I would definately have returned them because this is a real problem.

Dude, 10' x 10' ? Damn. I'm surprised you haven't passed out. I don't notice it as much as my studio is big. But when I put the thing in the bag to bring to shows and open the bag in my vehicle, holy sh*t.
I guarantee this glue comes from China. All the worst toxic stuff comes from China. I swear, they have engineers that work on stuff and say "how can we make this stuff as toxic as possible?"
There's probably depleted uranium in the glue.

I wonder how long it's going to take for the law of averages to kick in and one of us to get a traffic stop on the way to a gig, what will the reaction be to "honest officer I know I'm a musician on the way to a gig but that smell your getting is my speakers"!

He also told me that colleagues who'd worked in the shop longer than him said their speakers in the demo booth - and there is a lot - were exactly the same. I told him if my two had been in the booth it would have been obvious. We spent an hour singing through the system in that booth before we bought it and noticed no smell at all so it looks good for the fading theory.
So until then we'll just tell the audience the humming in the background is our new backing group
