Firehawk Questions

First off, is this the place to post regarding the Firehawk?

Firehawk showed up on my porch last Saturday and I am slowly starting to work with it.

My Amplify patches carried over and are easy to access and load to the Firehawk. It does however bring over the  Amplifi amp model with the patch, so no HD in saved over patches. In other words, the Amplifi amp model patches, when opened with the Firehawk, have the "Red" bars on the editing screen, while Firehawk amp model editing screen is "Blue". Is there a way of converting the downloaded Amplifi amp model to an HD Firehawk amp model? I tried it this morning and didn't see a way of choosing an HD amp. Still and all, a HUGE time saver having access to my Amplifi patches.

It also looks like the Amplifi patches carry over the default effects blocks, and no wild cards, or extra blocks, so there may be less flexibiblity effect wise using saved Amplifi patches? It does put the footswitch assignments with the amp blocks when you open an Amplifi patch.

I am experiencing some dropped Bluetooth issues, am hoping those go away as I use it more. I think much of it right now is that I am clearing way for my patches by saving over patch banks 1-6 to "My Tones" I may need to let it think a little more between commands.

Also, for anyone that doesn't know, Patch Bank 27-29 look to be Variax centric. Since I don't have a Variax, I will probably use 27-29 as a "swap file" area. A place to store, and move patches when I create set lists. I will be using 30-32 to develop my own new patches.

One more thing, and this may be for another post. Could someone describe, Hum, Sag, and Bias in really simple terms?

Thank you, BTW the Firehawk is exactly what I was hoping for after owning the Amplifi FX100!

I didn't see a way. I selected Amp in the editor and it only showed Amplifi amp models, no HD option. This is ONLY on saved over Amplifi patches.

That's curious to me. Unfortunately I don't have any AMPLIFi presets to test with.

Can other new Firehawk owners who have access to AMPLIFi presets please test to confirm this behaviour?

Is it possible that when you select the amp you can scroll upwards to see more amps?

Your last selected amp shows at the top of the screen and I often forget that I can scroll upwards to the hd amps

I don't have a Firehawk but in the app I am able to take an AMPLIFi preset from My Tones.
Click on the AMP block, then click Type, then select a Block Type and then you should see the HD AMPs

NICE! I will look at these options when I get home. This would be ANOTHER HUGE time saver. Thanks to All

I can confirm, when loading an AMPLIFi preset and then clicking the AMP block, there are only AMPLIFi models.

To get to the HD AMPS:

Click on the AMP block, then click Type, then select a Block Type and then you should see the HD AMPs

I just want to add that I'm having the bluetooth drop issue on my iPhone 6 IOS 8.3 also.  The app drops the connection, not the phone - in other words, when I go to the settings on the iPhone, it still shows the Firehawk as "connected".  If I restart the app it works again, but only for about 3-5 minutes.  This will be a nightmare in a live situation.  Any ideas?

I will attempt to describe my findings.

While in the Firehawk App, with a copied over Amplifi patch opened, when I tap the (red) Amp editor, it opens the page with the current selected Amp model highlighted.  I swiped the page and "son of a gun" there were the HD amp models all there! Basically the HD Amp models exist on the top of the page, so when seeing the previous selected model, the HD models were just out of view. This is really making the switch over from Amplifi to Firehawk a breeze!

On the Sag and Bias question, as per the description in the videos, (in my estimation) the higher the number the heavier my strings felt. Single notes specifically felt heavy to me. By slightly lowering those values, generally speaking it sweetened the sound and feel. VERY slight. I checked the Hum setting by turning it up..and guess what..it adds Hum!...DUH!

Is there a conflict with having Amplifi and Firehawk in the Bluetooth queue? Since I don't have both the Amplifi and Firehawk ruinning at the same time, should I "forget" the Amplifi connection?

I also see the "hair trigger" Wah condition from the Amplifi doesn't exist on the Firehawk.

Can't wait to take it for a spin on the gig.

Once again, I am one happy Line 6 user!

I find it depends on what amp was originally in the AMPLIFi preset.

If the AMP was from Type Clean,  I have to do the click AMP then Type,

Seems like there are no HD amps in the Clean Type.

I found the same thing- If it does not get fixed in an update, I will probably try to design my patches taround using the effects buttons more, as there does not seem to be lag when switching single effects on and off.  Still hoping the lag issue gets addressed.  I also noticed a "whirling" sound sometimes when switching between 2 distorted patches.  Any body else hear that?

I just got the Firehawk... Loving it, however, there's a half second lag when switching channels.  Is there a way to get rid of this?

If you're connected to BT while switching presets, yes, there will be a lag. This is because the BT has to sync the hardware with the app. BT is simply not a high speed connection, so there's no way around. If you're not connected to the app, though, and just switching presets on the hardware itself, it should be a lot faster.

I know what you mean when you say Bluetooth is not very speedy, it takes a few minutes for the app to get populated by the Firehawk when you first do a boot up. It seems strange that the Firehawk would attempt to do a communicate with the app whenit has the preset in it's internal memory.  I will try switching without the app to see how fast it gets.

If it is like a warping or warble sound, it is likely from a time based effect transition to/from a different timing.

Makes sense- would this be less noticable if the Firehawk was not connected via bluetooth to a device (as per the "lag" mentioned in another post)?

Yea, I get some weird tones also especially on patches with effects. I get the delay also. Will try having the ipad not synced and see if that improves that delay of changing presets.

In general I'm feeling good about the firehawk so far.

Not sure if this has been answered or not in another post. Running the newest firmware I have some patches that have a looped FX block and some that, instead have another regular FX block. I can't seem to change the block from one to the other. Am I missing something?
