I've pulled my hair out with this. All firmware is up to date, and the VDI cable clicks in as it should on both the pod and variax, but still nothing. PLEASE HELP ME, I'M GOING INSANE!!!

Do you have VARIAX selected as one of your Inputs for the HD500 preset? If so, please give more details about your setup. What do you mean when you say the HD500 doesn't 'recognise' the connection? What are you expecting in terms of recognition?

Yes I do have it  as my selected input, but when I say it won't recognize it, I'm saying when I get to the variax setup options, 7/10 in the setup on the pod it shows that there's no variax connected. My poor HD 500 is a few years old, and has been thru hell though. I think it might be time for a new one.

I would try a different VDI cable before replacing the HD500. To test you can use a standard Ethernet cable - just be careful when connecting/disconnecting the unshielded ends of the cable.

Tried both, my VDI cable is new, I can get it to work flawlessly with the variax interface and workbench.
