500x Using looper or tone generators to adjust settings

I'm trying to get a sensible approach to dialing in the many amp/cab/eq settings.  There are many frequency and noise generators out there, but using my own guitar signal with the looper seems like it would be best.

I think I would want the loop to record in "pre" mode so when playing back, effects would be added to an unprocessed guitar signal.  I'm tempted to listen to my loop and tweak through headphones, but suspect that listening through some full range speakers would be more realistic.

PRE (FS3 switch light is Off): Your guitar signal is recorded unprocessed (i.e. - the
Loop is recorded “pre†Amp & FX processing). When played back, the Loop audio
is mixed with incoming guitar to feed the current Preset’s Amp & FX processing. If
you change Presets or tone settings while set to PRE, you’ll hear them applied to your
Loop playback.

Tried it this morning.  So record a loop in PRE mode with no effects, then play back in looper Post mode so effects you add will affect the loop.  I think you need to start and stop and restart the playback of the loop and possibly send changes from hdEdit to the POD so that each change you make is reflected in what you're hearing.

I'll try it again, but it seemed that the loop recorded in 'pre' was not changing during playback as I tweaked the preset until I flipped the loop playback to post.   I was hearing realtime changes as I tweaked things in HDEdit so I shouldn't need to restart the loop playback after every change.

Keep in mind that when using the looper to knobulate, after a short time listening to the same phrase you won't hear it with much discrimination. I suggest working on a tone for a couple minutes then taking a break for a while, then listening again.

Yes I've noticed how ears get tired and hear things so differently from one hour to the next in the same room with the same setup.

I'm trying to adjust things while playing through a full-range stereo system in an attempt to mimic as closely as possible what my patch will sound like with the band through a  PA.
