Monitor L2M - Red Light

Recommended Posts

Hi, I constantly see a red light displayed on my L2M in monitor mode. In the manual it states that the "limiter circuit" is activated so is that a bad thing? Also, is it in my best interest to get it where it displays a blue light? If so, how can I do that?

Thank you,

Angelo

What's "normal" depends on how you're using the speaker. The light on the front of the speaker should be white under most operating conditions, blue when receiving info from a Stagesource mixer via L6 Link, and red only when the limiter circuit kicks in. The limiter is there to (hopefully) prevent you from blowing a speaker if you're pushing the amp too hard. If the light is on constantly, even when you're not playing, then I'd say it likely needs service.

If the limiter is kicking in, you are over driving the speaker, most commonly through poor gain settings.

Where do you run the master gain knob on the back panel? Line6 speakers are optimised to be run at the 12 o'clock (unity) position and running above this level could be your issue. There's a handy "notch" at the 12 o'clock position.
