Should I be able to use just one midi cable going from the HD500 "midi out" to the DT50 "midi in" to send a signal to the DT in order to turn on and off the DT's midi options such as the boost, change channel, etc.?

Whenever I have connected to a DT from my POD I used a pair for 2 way communication but I am thinking you should be able to just send from the POD to the DT. Is it not working? Are you sending on Channel 1?

Thanks for the response. I haven't tried it yet and I'm reading up on it now "the implementation guide". I wanted to try to use it to change channels and use the boost and maybe try some other settings changes using midi. I still need to try it. I think channel 1 is the one I need to use, is it not?

Yes, the DT listens on Channel 1. Will you be using more than one DT?

Also, ColonelForbin was doing some experimenting with MIDI a while back and I think he would be a good resource. Hopefully he will chime in with some of his findings.

I take it you want to do this because you like the 4CM. Does it really sound better to you with the DT amp? I suppose it is doubling your PRE amp signal if you are using the PREs. If you are using the Full amps I would think you would easily get clipping. Or are you not using amp sim at all?

Thanks, I'm using 1 DT50 Half Stack.

Yes, you read my mind. It does clip easy with full models but it it seems workable at low volume. The pre's are the go to.
