Updated to 2.62 but no Variax presets

Hello, I was successful at updating both my USB memory and flash memory in my new hd500x. The preset tittles remain unchanged however though User 1 is now loaded with lots of presets instead of being empty. Are these the Variax presets?

Also, I did a Preset backup bundle using Edit before my update, and I had a couple patches I made and like in User 1 that I would like to keep without losing the new update's presets now occupying the same User 1 locations. How do I bring back my patches and load them back in the pedal board in a different location as to not overwrite the new update's patches? While Edit and the hd500x are connected, and you open up a saved bundle on the computer, does it only sync the patch locations you call up on the footboard one at a time as you access them?

Thanks in advance!

The Variax Preset list is named Variax, so I think this is not what you are looking for. Best way to do what you want, is save the setlist of the new presets (on edit save setlist), put your bundle back (simple drag and drop) and after put the new setlist to replace another.

PS, if you load a bundle while pod is connected, immediately this bundle is loaded to your pod (but not saved)

The patches are there, but to get the setlist name to change (to Variax) you need to do a global reset --- which will then involve recalibrating the pedal.

As to your previous files....

First of all, anything can be saved, moved, overwritten, re-saved, removed, added later, etc. So, if you wanted to save what is there now so that you don't lose it when you install your old bundle, go right ahead.

If you saved as a bundle, when you load the bundle, everything will be where it was when you saved it.

If you saved as a setlist, everything in that setlist will be in that same place within that setlist, but you can load the setlist into any setlist position. {user 1 can be where Heavy is, Heavy can be where Best of is - etc}

If you saved individual patches, you can put them in any slot in any setlist you want.

Personally, I save patches, setlists, and bundles. I also have blank patches, setlists, and bundles -- so that I can easily erase whatever I need to erase.

Ah, excellent. Thank you guys, understood. Should I do a Global reset which requires me to recalibrate the pedal, or simply change the setlist name from User 1 to Variax? Is it beneficial in other ways to do a Global reset after an update?

Also, kind of stupid question here, but I haven't got my mind totally wraped around setlists/banks hierarchy arrangement yet;.....So there are 8 Setlists containing 16 groups of 4 patches, each with a top row of assignable effects right? I know you can reassign the group patches to be effects buttons but we'll skip that option for now. I'm thinking of that correctly for the most part right? Thanks again!

Personally, for this update, I wiped everything. I even deleted every trace off of my computer. And I reinstalled everything fresh.

So, yes, I would suggest doing the global reset.

------------------------------------------------------------

Blocks are the spaces available to put fx within a Patch. Blocks are when you decide -- I would like to try some distortion and some echo and I wonder what happens if I add a flanger.

Patches are the individual 'files'. Some call them presets, and the two terms are fairly interchangeable. Patches are what you download from Customtone.

Setlists are a group of 64 patches. Grouped together in 16 numbered banks consisting of four lettered presets.

A Bundle is 8 setlists.

Your Pod has 2 ways to it can be run.

That is:

1. using the 8 switches as fx on/off switches. Or,

2. Using 4 switches as fx on/off and the other four as patch selectors.

Mathmetically:

8 blocks = a patch

4 patches = a bank

16 banks = a setlist

8 setlists = a bundle

Thanks Pianoguyy, that breakdown was great and I understand it better now. I did the global reset and pedal calibration, all went well. The Variax set title showed up. I did see how to save Set lists and Bundles under the file tab, but saving single patches wasn't obvious to me. My Variax Standard arrived today so I'm putting together a few good patches to get through my show on Saturday. A serious thank you to you guys for steering me in the right direction. Guess I'll head over to the Variax Standard discussions and post my thoughts so far on this new axe.
