Greeting~

I'm from Hong Kong and sorry for my bad English first if you can't get my meaning.

Recently I just found out that my HD500 guitar input signal is going weak and sound terrible

(for example: i have a good clean patch which I always use and it sound very good before the signal problem, but after that, the clean sound terrible and have some noise when I play).

I tried to check everything (reflash firmware, reinstall all driver), but the problem is still here.

So I tried to plug in my guitar into the aux input.......the output sound back to normal!!

I would like to ask if there is anyone that have this problem?

is there any DIY method which can solve it by myself?

Thanks everyone.

Since you tried a different input, that points to something physically wrong with the guitar in (the input you were using before?) jack. You could get it serviced somewhere or try and look at it yourself if you're capable to do something like that, which would mean taking the HD500 housing apart to get at it and possibly removing and replacing the guitar in jack, which would require some moderate soldering skills.

Thanks everyone for your prompt reply.

Yes, I did everything which you guys mentioned (changed all cable, tried different guitar even 2 amps + line in to different interface), I'm quite sure it's a input problem.

As my POD's warranty is expired so I would like to try fixing it by myself and see if you guys had any experience that can share :)

In the POD HD's system menu, go to the input settings and leave input 1 source on guitar, and try experimenting

with input 2 source, input 1 can be directly affected by input 2 settings. By default, most people set input 2 source

to "Variax". Also turn off the padding switch, if its on.

Switch your input setting to Aux/Variax. If the Guitar Input connector is bad then your problem should go away. If the problem is still there then it's not the Guitar Input connector since it also shows up on the Aux connector.
