Pod HD Desktop Rotary question

Which kind of sucks being that it is 2015. BUT, the old Leslie Speakers that everyone loves were the same way. Fast, slow, or off.

If you think about it, we can only do stereo, there is no actual rotation. There is no 5.1 surround. No 360 audibility. The best we can do is left and right. Some of the panning and tremolo effects can offer the same sound as a rotating speaker.

Not that it's necessarily any comfort to HD users, but the new rotary effects on the Helix do have variable slow and fast speeds, and I believe they can actually be controlled by tap tempo, too. They also have a "ramp" parameter that controls how quickly the effect changes from slow to fast.

The rotating speaker effect in Logic Pro X has many controls including fast and slow speed. I use the POD HD500X as an audio device into Logic Pro X and use the Mixer as a live digital mixer. You can use MainStage for similar purposes. Remember to turn off the speaker emulation when using a Leslie cabinet as it already has speaker emulation and you generally don't want it twice.

No, with the HD rotary models, you only have the choice of slow or fast for the speed. And you can't set the rate of the slow or fast, either.

You can tie the speed to an expression pedal and switch from fast to slow that way and it works like a variable speed...  very cool, can't wait to use the Helix version...
