It is what it is. What do you think!

It is what it is. Amplifi 150 or 75 is an excellent device for playback of MP3's to play along with your guitar for practice or NON professional entertainment. The Bluetooth connectivity problem that has existed since day 1 of Amplifi will more than likely NEVER BE FIXED. Not because of Line 6 but because of the unstable nature of Bluetooth. I only playback music on the Amplifi through a wired connection to Aux input from my Ipad. I also use my Android tablet to control the Amplifi and use nothing else on the tablet. Yes I use two devices.. one for sheet music and MP3 playback and another to contol the Amplifi. If you attempt multitasking on any device controlling the Amplifi...IT WILL ALWAYS disconnect.

You can not use any other app on your IOS or Android device if you are using the Amplifi App to control the Amplifi. Multitasking DOES NOT WORK with the Amplifi app. IT IS WHAT IT IS AND NOTHING MORE. A great sounding amp for practice not intended for professional use.

Hey dialtech,

I am new to the device so not sure in what I am saying, but I do think that the manual states you shouldn't have any other apps "on" on the Android/Apple device whilst using it for Amplifi. I haven't tried switching everything else off yet and I have had disconnections, which at the moment are not more than a mild irritation. It's a downer to hear that it still occurs even with your setup. I am getting a pedal to control it, and I expected/thought that with this I could access all my stored tones (up to 200) as and when I need them and that would mean the flaky remote app wouldn't be a problem for me.

So, what I am wondering is this; what is the impact on a gig/practice if the Bluetooth connection breaks? I ask that question again with a FBV Express II?

Cheers,

Mark

So, what I am wondering is this; what is the impact on a gig/practice if the Bluetooth connection breaks? ...

I consider the Bluetooth connection with the AMPLIFi and Firehawk products to be analagous to the USB connection with other products like the POD processors. It supports communication with a computer (iOS/Android vs. PC/Mac), permitting easy tone editing, tone uploading/downloading, and patch organization on the device.

So the answer to the above question is..... it has the same impact that a break in the USB connection has with the POD devices. The thing is, for professional gigs no POD owner relies on the USB connection. They prepare their POD device with all the necessary patches in advance, and they organize those patches for convenient access and navigation during their gig.

I think AMLPIFi/Firehawk owners should do the same: use your Bluetooth connection in advance, without the time pressures of a gig, to prepare your device with all anticipated required tones organized appropriately.... and don't use the Bluetooth connection during your gig. You need to be professionally prepared to perform professionally. If you want to jam in an unrehearsed fashion during your gig, or play unexpected songs..... then you should have your set of stock, flexible, go-to tones at the ready on your device.

.... or you can plan to fire up your Bluetooth/USB connection and risk the impact if it fails.

Silverhead, This is exellent advice for all users. If you store the desired tones in Amplifi prior to a gig, Bluetooth disconnects will not be an issue.

Mark... If I am correct, with the current firmware, the FBV Express II will only control tones stored in banks 1 - 4. You need a FBV SHORTBOARD MKII to control the tones stored in all banks.

Yes, you need the Shortboard MKII in order to cycle through the banks and presets.  It has nothing to do with firmware though.  It's a limitation of the FBV Express.
