Gain difference using L6 link versus analog input.

Recommended Posts

Hello Line6 PA brethren,

In theory, should the output level of a Line 6 top be consistent weather using the L6 link input versus the analog line in? Doing a wedding right now, and the side using the analog input seems 2-3db quieter. All trims at unity.

Signal path: Mackie Dl1608 left and right analog outs to left and right analog inputs on a L3S. L6 link output from L3s to left top. Right Analog line output from L3S to right top.

Figured it out; answering my own question, might help someone else out later.

Because only one L6 link connection is being made, it is summing to mono, where as the feed to the other speaker is just the right side.

DJ is feeding me mono, so program material sounds fine, but the mono summing is still summing the voltages of the mixer's left/right outputs together, accounting for the 3db difference.
