Help getting natural reverb please...

I'm not an effects guy but would like to add some reverb to my sound using the Pod HD for recording and through headphones.

 

I've gone through the reverb options but can't seem to get something that sounds like a 12' x 13' room.  I'm looking for just a touch of reverb that adds some realism to the sound.

 

Could you please recommend some settings that might fit the bill?

I would suggest to record your guitar without reverb and add the reverb in the mixing stage. That way you have the flexibility to experiment with various options. I dont you if your DAW supports VST, but if it does there are plenty free reverbs available on the internet.

Have you tried the early reflections setting on the amp? That may be enough of what you're looking for. Or try the room reverb. Mess around with the settings, particularly the decay, and keep the mix rather low, anywhere from 5% to 20%.

While I agree with "record dry and add reverb after" for most situations, it isn't always how you want it to sound. 

So, for the other situations --- 

 

My goto hard rock patch runs a ping pong delay before the reverb: 

Plate 

Decay 35

pre delay 4ms 

tone 55 

mix 27 

 

my goto clean sound runs an analog chorus before the amp then reverb  

room 

decay 60 

pre delay 100ms 

tone 50 

mix 50 

 

 

May not be what you are looking for, but it is a start.
