TomyGun
Hi, I am having a heck of a time chasing down a loud pop when I use my foot switch to change from one tone to the next on some tones. I have a hd500X going to the DT25 (line 6) I have tried changing mixer levels to match. Volume levels on amp mods. Even though the volume level are low there is a big pop on my Amp. Any solutions? Very disruptive in a set changing to leads. or other. Tom
robbieb61
That's the amp topology changing (assuming you're using the L6 link) My solution was this: In a live situation I use a clean, crunch, and a lead sound. Once I set up all three sounds the way I wanted them...I simply made the topology the same for each one. That way when switching from one to the other at a live gig there is no popping sound.I personally chose topology IV for all of them. The way you do that is go to a preset you use, then go to the DT25 and choose topology IV on the amp. Now go back to the HD500 and save the preset. Do the same for the rest of the presets you use in live performance. Now when you choose any of those presets they will all use topology IV and there will be no loud popping sound. Of course you can choose any of the 4 available topology's, I just found that IV was the one that sounded best for me in live situations.
TomyGun
So that is just the way it is changing between presets. Seems like a major bug. Yeah, ill try that. Bummer is I like the Topo 1 for clean and then jump into 4 for leads. But I think I can get close trying that. It is just so hard to clean up 4. Thanks
robbieb61
I like Topo I for clean too. But it still sounds pretty damn good with IV.I use it that way for playing out with my band. When recording something I like to use the correct topography.
pfsmith0
Not sure I'd call it a bug. Changing amp topology is changing the internal circuitry - the way the tubes/transistors are connected together and biased. I'd be surprised if there WASN'T a pop. That being said, a mute would sound better than a pop. They probably could have implemented a short mute.
