Dopedod
Hey, so, i get my hd500x in 2014 in USA. And i get this error "POD HD 500 Update failed. (Code 80007211) Firmware update timed out waiting from response to the device. Try the update again, making sure the cables are still connected" And i get it all the time, whenever i try to update flash or copy/edit presets. At first i contacted support and their reply was "Sorry about the trouble you're having with your POD. The error you're receiving is a USB connection error. Since you have tried other cables, it seems the Pod needs service. You can contact your local distributor to set up a repair." Ok, local service done nothing, literally "we can't fix this lollipop" and take $50. I've reinstalled software a lot of times, changed cables, usb ports, pc's and notebooks, win 7(32/64), win 8 and 10. I've changed usb port in pod, and even changed usb controller like guy in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlY3sV4UXk4. I can't go to shop and change it to new, cause i live in Ukraine. So i believe there is solution, in firmware or hardware, and i believe that line 6 support need to know about it cause there is a lot of cases with "help me, cant do nothing cause usb timeout error" Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english. davidb7170
It sounds like you have tried many things with no success, but I would suggest a couple of things to try. You may have already done these - if so I apologize, but just in case... First off disconnect ANYTHING other than the USB cord and power supply from your 500 before trying a firmware update. This has happened to me with my 500(X) being connected to my amp creating a ground loop, and caused a failed FW update, I also disconnect my JTV's VDI cable, to make sure the 500(X) is not also communicating with the JTV in the midst of the USB communications. During these FW updates, I make sure the PC - USB - HD500(X) is only doing one thing at a time -- talking to each other.... I have also gotten my PCs' USB into a state on non-communicating. The PC will keep track of devices it has had communication problems with and not even try - which is why folks suggest trying another USB port - the different port may be on a different internal USB controller without the history of communication problems with the HD500. This is also why the USB will work with other devices, but not the problem device -- I've had that too... If I have no joy with another USB port, I will go into the PC Control Panel - Device Manager, find the USB controller and (this is scary) remove the USB hub from the list - and controllers. Don't panic, they will be reinstalled by Windows (you may have to force a hardware scan), but when they are reinstalled by the system, this wipes out the history of failed devices, and it will try again when you connect the "problem" device again.... Make sure like I said, that the HD500 is ONLY connected to the PC USB and nothing else. The reason it may have failed on multiple PC's may be that your HD500 had a ground loop due to connection to an amp - the amp doesn't even need to be turned on to have a ground loop affect things like this. The multiple attempts may have all had something like this in common. Break it down to the basics, go step by step. If that doesn't do it, then you may have a defective USB interface on the 500. Good luck. Dave

Good luck. Dave Thanks, but i done all of this already. So pod hd have only usb and power cables inserted. Pc and pod power inserted in different different sockets, so there can't be ground loop. About defective usb interface - i've changed usb controller (http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Bc8AAMXQgoBRiLgO/s-l1600.jpg) and changed usb port, so there is nothing in chain pc - cable - pod hd usb port - usb controller can't be broken. Dopedod
+1 do davidb7170 suggestion above here.. but, IMHO given that probably you are not an expert electronic technician, I strongly suspect you didn't fix your USB port and controller properly.. if this is the case there are really no hopes to get good results until you give your device in the hands of an expert and let him doing this unfortunately costly work I'm not fixin electronics on my own, but the electronic technician that replaced parts in my pod can't diagnose where is problem. silverhead
...Ok, local service done nothing, literally "we can't fix this lollipop" and take $50. .. If this was not an authorized Line 6 service centre, then you need to take/send the device to an authorized service centre. If this was an authorized service centre, then open another support ticket with Line 6 and inform them of the situation. Line 6 must take responsibility for correcting this problem although you will have to pay for it (you voided any warranty if the usb port/controller was replaced anywhere but an authorized service centre).

Ye, i voided, but rigth after their autorised line 6 service centre done nothing. So i already give them my money for nothing. I'm trying to solve this problem for a year, and i sure that i can find answer. Easy way - line 6 technician reveal where is problem, cause it's not only my case, usb is a weak spot of a lot of line 6 production. Hard way - continue to seeking for solution. agree with Silverhead above.. if the man needed the youtube video to know what to do and how to do it, surely is not authorized by Line6 Video was as example for you, not for technician. I've asked for help from authorised line 6 service centre in ukraine - they take money and say "can't do nothin" So i found other technician who can replace problem parts ( well, i thinked problem there before they was replaced)

Contact Line 6. If their authorized service centre was unable to fix the problem Line 6 will make other arrangements for you.
caltamirano
