leesteel
Please clarify, HD500X into L2M via L6 Link. Is that the only connection I need between the two? Are there any benefits to this setup?
silverhead
Yes, that's the only connection you need. Benefit: you can store the L2 speaker mode in the POD HD preset, meaning you can use Reference/PA mode for acoustic tones and Electric Guitar mode for others. Not a big deal IMHO but some use it. Electric Guitar mode is best used with a pre (not full) amp model on the HD preset and with no cab/mic selection. The L2 speaker becomes the power amp and cab. Drawback: you lose the ability to use the HD cd/MP3 input because that input signal is not converted to digital within the HD and hence can't be passed via L6 Link to the speaker. However, you can easily connect the cd/MP3 input source to another of the speaker's inputs. While neither a benefit nor drawback, there is another noticeable difference. The volume of the L6 Link output seems much higher than either the XLR or 1/4" outputs. You will likely need to dial down the volume control on either the Pod or the speaker.
leesteel
Thank you, I ordered a L2M today. Can't wait.
Rewolf48
In a monitor position I find 12 o'clock on the L2 reasonable and then control the volume with the HD Master Volume knob - because you can see that one while the L2 volume is facing the floor. Normal xlr cable is fine for L6Link for short runs. One little trick is that the "Mix Out" XLR Output from the L2 is a good Line Level signal for sending to the Desk with the D/A conversion happening in the L2, rather than the Mic level signal from the HD500
leesteel
Thanks, I will give that a try. I currently have my HD500x running mono out into a XLR splitter, one to the monitor and one to the desk. My other path in the signal chain is strait through clean as a reference source for my TC Helicon Voicelive to use for harmony.
leesteel
Sounds Fantastic! You can REALLY tell the difference in the sound between "XLR in" and "L6 Link in".
