Hello POD HD group.

Question.   I was watching a youtube video on the Helix..(Pete Thorn).  Awesome musician.  He was referencing a new term that I have not heard before -

Impulse Response.

What is it - in a nut shell?  Is this used in the POD 500X realm - and I am not aware?

In advance, thanks.

ps.  Maybe this should have been posted in the Helix section.  sorry.

Nutshell answer - it's a file that can be loaded into a computer or modeling device that emulates how a speaker cabinet responds to sound.  It's my understanding that the PODHD uses them but you definitely can't load in your own.  There are lots of Impulse Response files available for free or purchase that can have a fairly large effect on your tone.

Could be some kind of technical-definition like pictured in MeAmBobbo´s Guide

Vintage __*_______ Modern
Dark ______*___ Bright
Midsy _*________ Scooped
Loose __*_______ Tight
Noisy ___*______ Hi-Fi
Thin ___*______ Thick
Smooth _______*__ Harsh

By the way: A custom cabinet definiton using values like these would work fine for the HD
I´m more interested in defining my dream-cabinet using values as blindly trying cabinet-types and brands I do not know by myself.
