talonmm
I need to apologize in advance. This is probably a very stupid question, but any help would be appreciated. Having not been a big fan of wah wah pedals and volume pedals I never did much with the podhd500x attached pedal. Now I want to set it up and leave it most of the time in the "off position". Looking at the edit software and the manual, I see there is a special assignment and I can default the pedal to remain off. Yet, from an operating standpoint, when playing, I can't figure out how to turn the switch on, or for that matter even where the switch is located. I can assign the normal foot switch controls to the expression pedal but that seems like a waste of resources to me. Can someone please explain in simple terms out to engage the expression pedal on/off switch? Thanks!

Whoops I guess I didn't read your question right, lol, glad everyone else after me did though. :) Edited February 9, 2016 by Brazzy
silverhead
The pedal's toe switch is assigned by default as its on/off switch. It is also used to toggle between the EXP-1 and EXP-2 positions. The toe switch is physically located beneath the toe of the pedal. It's easy to miss that fact because the switch is initially very difficult to engage. It will loosen up over time but at the beginning you have to really pass down hard on the very top of the pedal. You can't do it sitting down, you have to stand and REALLY stomp/press down on it. Don't worry - you won't break it!
barks62
For the record, I'm REALLY glad you asked this question! I assigned my wah to a normal foot switch (which I hate), because I didn't think my toe switch was working. Actually, I thought maybe you had to buy an external pedal to have a toe switch. Now that silverhead explained it, I'll go home and put my considerable mass behind depressing the pedal and see what happens. I should have asked this months ago... Thanks talonmm!! silverhead
in my HD500 the toe switch is never assigned automatically as the on/off switch both for the Wah and the Volume FXs I thought it was. Thanks for the correction.
Rewolf48
If you find it really hard, then it is quite safe to turn the HD500 upside down and shave a bit off the black rubber block using a file; just try not to get too many shavings inside; this will let the pedal travel just a little bit farther and engage the switch a little easier.
talonmm
thanks everyone! I appreciate all the replies! I thought I saw a switch under the toe and had tried to activate it without success in the past. That would have lead to my next question on how to engage it because it did not seem to work. So now I also know what I have to do to get the switch to activate. Thanks again everyone!
