j_leblanc88
Hey Guys, So I've been running a PODHD500 into a DT50 (112) using the Line6 link. I have all my patches volumes carefully set evenly to make sure they boost appropriately for leads etc. I run the Master on the POD all the way up and the Master on the Amp at around 9 oclock for most rooms we play. The problem I've been having lately is that when I change patches (say for example to my lead patch), the volume goes WAYYY too high all of a sudden, even though I have it set at a comfortable level normally. Then, If I click the same patch footswitch a second time, the volume goes back to normal. I've made sure of the obvious, that my levels werent accidentally adjusted and Im not accidentally hitting any volume knobs. I have all the latest firmware, and take great care of my gear, so I'm a little dumbfounded. please help if you've experienced this. Thanks! DunedinDragon
I gain stage and volume normalize all my patches and I've never experienced such a thing, but then again I'm using a normal 1/4" output to my FRFR floor monitor. It makes me wonder if somehow you're getting an errant control command sent through the L6 link due to the POD Master volume being dimed out. mcbeddall
Have you set up the volume levels at your normal gigging volume? I say this because when I set up volume changes at home (low volume) they are always more pronounced when I get to rehearsal (playing louder) and I have to dial them back a bit
Matt_Brown
I have the same problem. It seems to 'happen after a while' so I've been wondering if something happens when it gets hot! I'll maybe try the idea of taking out the volume pedal but I like it so much! I did read a thread about putting it on the amp volume but if the rocker is playing up I guess you would have the same problem. If anyone else has any ideas I'm happy to hear them! If it's a lot of us - and its definitely something that had only been happening lately - then maybe it's an issue in the latest software? Rewolf48
The latest software was quite a while back, but reports of this behaviour or similar have been around for a lot longer The were back in the old days (2010 or so) issues with apparently random jumps in volume or tone; one possible cause is that the Amp Control knobs are being moved just a tiny bit by the vibration from the sound, and if you have say your Amp Volume knob set high up and it moves very slightly, then the HD will think that you moved it and want the amp set to the current knob position setting. http://uk.line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/47935/ You could try "parking" the amp controls on the HD500 at 0 and see if that helps. If the unit is a few years old (out of warranty) it might be worth giving it a "service" - clean the pots, switches and sockets (yes open it up), backup all presets and reload the firmware then restore your presets. And if you are using L6 Link then while you can get away with a mic cable if it is for any distance you might want to try a proper AES/EBU cable.

This seems like a good idea ill try it tonight and let you know if it gets any better. It is a very small stage so that could ver well be the problem. j_leblanc88
Tried a piece if duct tape over the pod preamp knobs and problem solved! Gig went off without a hitch. Thanks for the helpful input folks.
