Can the expression pedal be set up to do both wha and volume in the same fx block in the same patch?

Yes.

 

But a wah and volume are actually two separate blocks. If you're asking can you control both a volume and wah at the same time, you can do that. Assign both blocks to the same switch, having both blocks enabled or disabled when you save the patch.

 

Or if you want to toggle between a wah and volume and have both controlled by the same expression pedal, you can also do that. Assign both to the EXP TOE SWITCH. Or if you want to use a different switch, assign both blocks to a switch, enable one and disable the other before saving the patch.

 

In HD Edit, take a look at the Controllers tab. Everything you need to make these assignments is there.

I am doing this with the Pitch Glide and the Wah in one patch.  EXP TOE SWITCH for both with the Wah assigned to EXP2 and the Glide (min = 0 max = 50 for normal pitch at full on) assigned to EXP1.  Of course the EXP assignments are just personal choice YMMV.

That is the only part I HATE about the HD500

I loose a effect block to Volume and Wah...

Where my X3 Live was already a Volume without using a block,

Then you setup Expression 2 to your effect...

 

I KNOW you guys at LINE 6 can fix this and free up another block for us... PLEASE
