I don't even think you can do that.

You can do things like change patches. You can turn fx on and off within a patch. You can even control the exp pedal and looper. But I don't think you can actually change your settings.

Of course, if, by change the settings, you mean something different than what I mean when I think of change the settings - well, then, I would need to ask if you read the owner's manual because that information is in there.

Its only my 3rd cup of coffee right now but isn't the inst def file a midi reference file?

In the way back machine of my dusty mind I want to say I used one for a brief adventure in keyboards/midi/pc connections.

With an IDF (Instrument definition file), I can have the sequencer change things for me automatically like distortion on/off, or even change the tone I'm using (i.e. from 12A to 10B). An IDF is just a text file telling the sequencer what the specific commands are, and how to send them. So in essence, I can have one set up for rhythm, and when it comes time, change to a lead without having to stomp a button.

It is used for the sequencer, not to edit tones, and by change settings, I meant to switch from one to another. Just like having the sequencer play a midi note, it can also turn flanger - distortion - etc..on/off.

Ooooh well then you probably already know about the midi reference in the manual which is as far as I go for midi controllers (usually older rack gear or the old beans - not for the HD Bean though). I've never used a sequencer.

i would love to have this as well.  It would be nice to be able to have Sonar change patches for me during live performance.  The general midi file will change the patches as long as all  your midi transmit and receive settings are correct but it would need to be edited to the actual patch names within the POD so your acoustic guitar patch won't be named pipe organ or something.
