chrisblythenz
Hi I have an HD500 and Variax JTV which I play through my Vox AC15. I've only had the Pod a while so am getting all my sounds set up. I'm generally OK using my Pod as an FX unit without the Amp modelling as the AC15 covers most sounds I need amp-wise. However, I've run into two issues around wanting to switch between electric and acoustic sounds on stage. Acoustic guitars sound rubbish through any guitar amp! I know this!! however... my two options are; 1. Running the HD500 straight into the desk using the XLR out. However, I found the amp modelling sounded pretty limp compared to the AC15. I did switch to the right output setting and had the HD master vol up high as described in the handbook. Acoustic sounded great but the electrics were poor. 2. Ideally, I'd like to run electric sounds to my AC15 using the 1/4 out and be able to switch to the XLR out for acoustics. However, I don't think this is possible. So, any advice on 1) getting better amp modelling sounds through the PA option 2) switching between Amp or Desk outputs with presets grazias! pianoguyy
No, you can't switch outputs via preset. Advice on getting better modeling sounds direct --- practice makes perfect. But remember, you aren't hearing the guitar amp sound. You are hearing the mic'd guitar amp sound. You may that, but so many people forget that fact, so it needs mentioned. HOWEVER: If you are willing to run things in mono, meaning no stereo effects, you can run your acoustic panned full-left and the electric panned full-right. The right can go to your amp and the left can go direct. Case solved.
chrisblythenz
thanks hurghanico I don't have the PA at home so want to set up a preset for the next rehearsal - i won't have a chance to experiment before hand! so I'm clear.... I throw an FX Loop block in at the end of my 'acoustic' present chain Connect a cable from the send to the desk, but not a return? Adjust the send volume to a decent, undistorted level through the desk Leave mix on 100% Leave return on 0db? Does this configuration mean then, that the send routes the signal only to the desk and not through the 1/4 output? I assume if I had the return it would also send the signal to the guitar amp as well (which I don't want to do) thanks again
chrisblythenz
hi Pianoguyy re; If you are willing to run things in mono, meaning no stereo effects, you can run your acoustic panned full-left and the electric panned full-right. So for this set up, I'd run the 1/4 out to the amp and the right XLR to the desk in the Mixer section I'd set up the acoustic present to pan right I guess I'd have to set all the electric presets to pan left?
