billlorentzen
I have two broken foot switches. The small switch on the board no longer has any click to it, and it doesn't work, except maybe one out of 30 pushes. Anyone know where to source these little guys? Also what are the part numbers? Thanks!
billlorentzen
I think I found them at Full Compass.
billlorentzen
Cleaning doesn't work when the little black switch has stopped working. I opened it up and the little metal disc had lost its curve. It wouldn't click. I actually fixed one temporarily by bending it a little and super gluing it back together. Meiannatee
if your POD is out of warranty you can open the device and clean the footswitches with a good quality contact cleaner spray.. it is not so difficult and luckily the FS are on a separate little circuit board easily accessible once the device is open Hi Hurghanico, I'm planning to try what u described. Is there anything i need to be careful of when opening the pod? What contact cleaner would u recommend? I use tap tempo alot, and that one switch in particular is problematic. It still clicks, but often does not contact. 1 more question, does rotating the switch with my foot decrease its lifespan? Thanks!
BillBee
I have good luck with DeOxit contact cleaner. Give the switch a squirt, work the button a bit give it one more and hopefully that will be it for a while. One of the reasons I am hoping the Bean will come back with midi ports. Meiannatee
Got a noob question: do I just spray it thru the gaps at the top of the switch? The cylindrical black thing
BillBee
Nico is right, the exposed part is just a plunger assembly that taps the little bugger on the inside.
Meiannatee
No mean the little BLACK shaft that is the top part of the switch Or do i need to open that tiny switch?
eenymason
There's a video on youtube showing (I think) an X3 being opened up and the switches being worked on... I linked to it a couple of times aleady here in questions posed on the same problem. The issue could well be the spring needing to be stretched just enough to make correct contact with the actual switch. If this fails to correct the issue, maybe switch replacement is needed. Observe carefully the correct procedure to take apart, and NOT lose important bits n bobs!
Meiannatee
for the moment don't open any internal part, just spray the internal area of the FS, and see if you get improvements.. if not, is up to you to let a professional tech doing the FS replacement job, or trying to do a surgical operation by yourself I sprayed on the external part of the FS, gave it a few presses. It works flawlessly now! Thanks hurghanico, you're always very helpful on this forum.
