Pod HD500x Power Cycle Itself

I've noticed that this happens every time, only when I power it on for the first time before church service and rehearsal.

My typical process of plugging in and getting started as follows:

I plug in my guitar to the hd via the variax cable. Then I power on the hd. When it's powers on, all the LEDs are glowing normally, and of course the tap is flashing. Now, when I press and hold the tap to tune, it will practically reboot itself and once that happens, no problems. I can press and hold the tune all day long and it will not reboot itself. Everything will work without a problem.

Does that usually happen when using the variax cable? I haven't experience that issue when using a 1/4 in instrument cable. The latest firmware was applied when purchased it a few months ago.

Thank in advance!!

do you have the original power supply?..

if the ampers delivered by the power supply are not as needed, adding the Variax into the equation could give some issues..

next time try to power on the HD with the Variax disconnected, and connect it after, and see if there is a different behaviour

Thank Hurghanico for your suggestion. The power supply is the original that came with the HD.  I powered on the HD without the Variax connected as you suggested. I pressed and held the tap button, and it didn't reboot. While the HD was in the tuning mode, I connected the cable to the variax and then to the HD. Toggled the tuning mode off and on - no reboot. Maybe I'll continue that start up sequence from now on!

Will having the battery installed inside the guitar may have caused a power surge or something when I power on HD with guitar already connected?

what I know is that the POD needs a 9V DC, 3A Power Adapter, but probably it can work also with one that gives only 2.5A but only without a Variax connected to the VDI..

who knows, maybe your Power Adapter is no longer able to give all the necessary 3A current (check it with a multimeter) or maybe there is not enough current on the power line to which you connect it

That's possible, even-though I purchased the HD in December, the power adapter might be defective. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Hi all, here's a follow up on the HD500x re-booting itself when the Variaxe cable is plugged in.

It seems to only happen when I leave the battery inside of the JTV59. When I remember to remove the battery before plugging in the cable, the Hd500x doesn't reboot.
