Gkf9
Hi I've only recently just bought an Amplifi 75 and loving it so far. I'm still learning guitar, had a break for 20 odd years. Come to the stage now tho where I need to switch from a clean tone to a distortion tone etc etc when learning certain songs. Would a FBV shortboard mk 2/3 be overkill? As I won't be gigging anytime soon. Or would the simple straight forward Express pedal be better? Just switching between the 4 user presets. I really can't get my head around how I would use the Shortboard controller with all the 100 presets available with the Amplifi? If anyone is using the shortboard with said Amp or similar could give me any examples how I'd use it?
fflbrgst
You might get more answers over in the Amplifi section of these forums, but I would say that if you are not going to be performing with this amp, then the Express would be the quick solution. I have not seen any releases from Line 6 about a new Shortboard model, only the FBV 3 switcher, which is due out this month.
Gkf9
Sorry that's what I meant, is it not a step up from the shortboard mkii?
fflbrgst
The FBV3 is due to be released tomorrow, so you won't have to wait long. It sells for $250. You can pick up an Express MkII used for around $50 these days (they're $100 new).
Gkf9
Ok thanks, was thinking if I buy the FBV3 it might future proof me for a while? Instead of buying the Express and wishing I'd bought the FB3. Decisions decisions. ..
JamnThang
Actually, you might enjoy "learning" with gigging in mind, and should find the FBV Shortboard Mk2 a good choice, and develop your overall playing games skills at the same time. There are many Mk2 Shortboards to be found in very good condition for around the $100-$120 price point. TRY TO FIND & BUY ONE FROM A FELLOW PLAYER THAT includes the FBV Cable, the simple Cat 5, fitted for the J-45 jack. BTW, I just noticed that the Mk3 has a power supply input... DOES THE NEW FBV Shortboard Mk3 REQUIRE USE OF POW SUPPLY??!!! OR, will it take its power from the HDPRO-X Rack unit WHICH I JUST BOUGHT? Hmmm, I'm going to find that out ASAP, BECAUSE I ALMOST BOUGHT a Mk3 Shortboard this afternoon. Thanks and good luck, Gkf9
