JLEpperson
I need help in getting a clean but full Nile Rodgers patch. My cover band covers a lot songs requiring this sound. (Get Lucky, LeFreak, Duran Duran, David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson and etc. I have tried many times to program but never seem to get there. Suggestions? sulkbooth
No need to say, you'll have to have a Strat in the 2nd position (neck and middle pickup) I'd start with one of these sounds and maybe a bit of tweaking: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/210923/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/218462/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/218578/ Bear in mind, try to disable some of the effects (for instance, the last one "wah wah watson" is killer without the wah wah effect :)
Akeron
In "Le Freak" he has used the compressors of the channels of a Neve console. You could try to use one Tube Comp or two Red Comp
studiox19
To get the sound, you're better off with the Strat selector switch in the neck position (position 5). Use some compression to bring your strings up to the same level and a clean amp - he uses peavey blues amps. Try the tweed or ac30 amps. medbad5150
Small touch of Chorus is good too, my band cover Get Lucky and Le Freak, also do Notorious by Duran, so I am well qualified in Le Funk! Oh and Move like Jagger Yeah depends Le Freak is neck pickup but Notorious and typical funk is between neck and middle single coil to get the 'pluck' funk sound. But sompressor is a must to accentuate the plectrum pluck that disco and funk have.
sulkbooth
Yes, I'll correct myself :) Single coil neck pickup would be the best for the sound, both for "Get lucky" and "le Freak". Including a lot of compression of course :)
