taldavid
Hi, I noticed that when I record a loop (single layer), the volume of its playback drops quite a lot compared with anything I play on it (even not overdubbing another loop on it), or compared to the volume when I recorded it. I think it was like that also in the HD500, but not this bad. This happens when in the looper (mono looper) settings I have "playback" and "overdub" at 0 dB, and the low/high cuts are at 20Hz/20kHz. Is there any way to increase the volume of the playback (and not the volume of what I play over it....)? Thanks!
silverhead
Have you tried increasing the looper playback level?
taldavid
As I said, the looper playback is at 0.0dB which is the maximum....
silverhead
sorry - don't have my Helix with me and didn't know that was the max.
jar1zx
I use the looper a lot....and for me I have to play the looped track at a lower level (I use volume on guitar) so recorded part doesn't over power lead parts I play over. My 2nd trick is record with front single coil pickup then play over that with the stupid hot bridge pickup. I have not yet updated to newest firmware as in my understanding it only gives us option to use editor. I haven't had to to play with that part yet. My looper in my helix on every firmware but the newest one.........has played back the loop just as loud as I recorded it. I did have looper bugs on older firm wares but they are gone and fixed now. jar1zx
Your problem seems off to me. Maybe contact line 6. The looper is a great part of the helix for me and mine works great. I do play in stereo 99% of the time but I have tried the looper in mono with success. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
nippyjun
I'm not with my helix at the moment but is there a way to make it so you can adjust the "mix" between the looper sounds and the sounds you play over the looper. Maybe using 2 paths.
taldavid
It may be a mono vs. stereo thing. I have to check that. Right now I'm using the 1/4'' output to a single amp, and so there might be a problem there. I don't know of a way to mix between looper sounds of only the playback vs. whatever you play over it by using 2 paths - I would love learning how to do that :)
MyWalterEgo
Hey taldavid! Did you solve your looper volume problems? I would be very curious because I have the exact same problem with my Helix LT: Looper is at 0.0 db but the playback plays only half as loud as I record it. I tried mono and stereo looper, Single and 6 looper... still same problem. My firmware was at 2.60 and I hoped an update would solve my problem but the issue still occurs on 2.71 as well... Kind of desperate already... Any help, please? Thanks
themetallikid
I had this issue as well and got no help on my thread....I just gave up on the looper. other than for tweaking purposes.
taldavid
9 hours ago, MyWalterEgo said: Hi, This was a long time ago, and was when I used multiple layers on the looper. Since then my looper usage dropped quite a bit, and when I use it for anything more than the simplest loop, I usually go to Quantiloop on my iPad, which is much more versatile (especially with quantization). MyWalterEgo
Thank you for your replies... I see. I just wonder why there are obviously many users of the helix LT, who don't experience the same volume differences with their loopers... There must either be something wrong with my Helix LT or with me... :-) I guess it's best to contact line 6 directly... I'll keep you updated if you want to! MyWalterEgo
So this was fast! I contacted line 6 and they told me to just reset my Helix LT (https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helixrackltfxstomp-reset-procedures-and-troubleshooting-tricks-r768/) and that was it! My looper plays exactly the volume as I record!!! Quite happy that it wasn't me after all! ;-) So in case you (taldavid) are in the mood for some loops again, go ahead and do the same thing.(and don't forget to do a backup in the first place). I guess it'll solve your problem too!
MyWalterEgo
Update of last post: Taldavid, you probably don't have to reset your Helix LT. As Christoph from line 6 told me, that he tried the looper with the preset Essex 15 I also did so and there the looper just played fine and I thought YES, the reset did it but than I recreated my backup with my presets and there we go again: Looper only half as loud... But the good news is, I've found the problem! As soon as you put a looper on one of your two signal chains, you have to make sure that the input of the other route (in my case it is the lower line in the display where I see all my effects in a row) has to have a "X" in the input. My preset before was on both routes on "Multi" and therefore the signal was kind of split => only half volume of the looper as a result... Hope that helps and all the best, Walter
