jin1995
Since the laney ah40 is a multi instrument amplifier i am hoping it will be tone neutral , and help me use the pod effectively without tone coloring. Is the ah40 correctly suited for this purpose? what other amps(can't afford tube amps for now) can help me achieve this?
cruisinon2
Nothing is completely "tone neutral". The spec sheet for that amp makes no claims about being FRFR, which is as close to neutral as anything is ever going to get...but even then, some subtle differences can be expected from one unit to another. A different speaker, is a different speaker. Doesn't mean that you won't be able to get good tones from it, but there's really only one way to find out. Could be awesome, or it could sound like baked a$$. It seems to be designed to wear a lot of different hats...whether or not it does this well, is anybody's guess. It doesn't seem to have discrete speaker "modes" (PA reference, acoustic, electric guitar, keyboard, etc) the way the Stagesource stuff does, so my guess is that they intend for you to use the global EQ to tailor it's response based on what you're plugging into it.
