Hello, i recently buy a pair of studio monitors with the idea of connect them directly to the POD HD 500.
But I'm not sure about using the pod as interface, because: "how i'm going to know if my monitors are clipping?" I mean... non of this have an indicator... so, maybe i connect the monitors and they will broke.

How can i use the POD without buying an interface?

I just use my ears. I've been using the fx return on a DT50HD/Cab. Haven't used powered monitors but I don't think you can over power them with the Pod. It'll propbably just sound like the garbage if your settings aren't good.

Set the volume on your monitors to a mid-level (the notch position if they have one). Start with  low output volume on the POD. Increase the POD volume slowly until it is loud enough. If your monitors start clipping (you'll hear it) turn down the POD volume a bit and then increase the monitor volume if necessary.

Clipping is not exactly a "stealthy" problem. The little red "idiot lights" are a nice touch, but it's not like it will go unnoticed if you don't have 'em.

Thank you all for the answers.

One question: the POD have a mixer and there, there is an option to low the dB from it.

That will help?

Volume is volume. It doesn't really matter where you do your adjusting. Using a patch's channel volume, the mixer block, or the POD's master volume will all accomplish the same thing. It's either not enough, to much, or just right.
