Midi Notes

You're not sending notes, actually...

To keep a long story short: This could happen, if the MIDI implementation (slightly) differs -

in this case using Ableton (live?) and L6 Helix.

There are thousands of products on the market that use MIDI -

and often enough there are (even bigger) differences in using MIDI ...

I noticed something odd as was setting up some Ableton triggers this weekend.  In order to trigger note D1, I had to set the Helix MIDI note to D2.  Is this intentional?  It just seemed unusual to myself.

I don't know anything about Ableton's MIDI implementation, really, but does it have a note offset of transpose function anywhere? That would be the first thing I'd look for.

I understand different devices operate differently when comes to midi (my Saffire Pro 40 that I use at home and the Saffire Pro 14 that I use at church don't seem to operate the same).  However, I haven't really experienced notes being an octave off without me using a specific devices transpose function.

I haven't seen that in terms of a global function in the software.

When it comes to MIDI, almost everything happened to me in the past :P

What about the pitch shift midi effect in Ableton?
