brandonmiranda1
Hey guys. New to the whole home studio thing so any help would be greatly appreciated. Just recently bought a Mac Mini, a UX2, a Shure Sm7b, a Cloudlifter, everything was purchased brand new and the first time I set everything up and try to record vocals there is a loud crackling noise being picked up. I have an XLR going from the Sm7b into the Cloudlifter and another XLR running from the Cloudlifter into the UX2. No matter what my gain is set at on the UX2 the crackling sound stays constant at the same loud volume even if my voice volumes is dropped or raised. I've switched out cables and microphones and the crackling is there so I can only assume that it's either my Mac or the UX2. Super frustrating. Please help. psarkissian
UX2 is an interface and requires an app, running Gearbox or POD Farm. Your Shure mic is a dynamic mic, so DO NOT engage phantom power. Phantom power is for use on condenser mics. Crackling is usually a sign of clipping. Maybe try it without the Cloudlifter. The UX2 already has amplification inside.
