Tele type B-bender using a POD HD plus a Variax and an expression pedal to control the pitch of the B string.

Very clever idea. Something only a hex-pickup guitar with pitch-shifting and external control could do. (and kudos to johnyy for thinking of it too). Love it.

Yeah, but after 10 days on Ideascale it only has 3 upvotes ... INCLUDING MINE! :(

Not a popular idea, it seems the tribe has spoken.

Guess I will get busy hacking up the body of my JTV to add a real B Bender :o

The REAL clever idea is ideascale itself - why pay a bunch of guys big bucks to sit around and think of new product ideas and improvements and focus group-ing everything to death, when you can save time money and energy by letting people on the internet dream up future innovations for you! Smart indeed...

Well, I don't know how many people use ideascale. I went to have a look and they require me to register yet another username. I already have one with Line 6 but no, another registration is required just so I can look at/submit ideas. That was the end of my committment to this idea.

Maybe an idea would be that ideascale didn't need a new username. I must submit that at ideascale. But wait, that would require a new username.....

What's the big deal about creating another account? Just use the same username you use here if you want.

I already have way too many accounts. Each one is open to misremembering/hacking/email spam, so I try not to register unless I have to.

An extension of your train of thought is why not make it that every different page that I visit at Line 6 requires its own registration?

Here's another question: What's wrong with my existing LINE 6 account working on other Line 6 websites? That's a question for Line 6 I suppose.

It's not a Line 6 website. Ideascale is a different company altogether that Line 6 is subcontracting for this.

I am going to say at least 147 (the current number of upvotes for the most popular Line 6 product idea, "add some more metal amps to the Pod HD series").

The current top idea for JTV is "add a nylon string model" with 93 votes.

I understand the hesitancy regarding opening yet another online account and I think it would be better if this kind of thing were part of the Line 6 site, but I accept it for what it is and must forge ahead.

No one there liked my idea of being able to control the amount of trem spring rattle in the Spank models and string rattle/resonance in the R-billy models, but I did notice the spring sound has been tamed in the 2.0 Spank models and I am quite happy with the improvement.

Well from my perspective, Line 6 is the contact point. If they want suggestions from me on Line 6 products, I don't expect to register with a 3rd party company.

All I can say is it has stopped me from visiting or contributing to their research. I don't know how many others like me have been stopped by this, possibly no-one. But in my case, it has prevented me voting on or suggesting anything.

Back in the Pod XT days I had (still do) a Vetta.  The Vetta's FX loop was post amp and there were two input options but only one could be used at a time (Variax or Guitar).  I submitted a suggestion on the boards at the time, that the FX loop be put before the amps and give the Vetta the ability to use both the Variax and Guitar inputs at the same time with the ability to route either one to either amp path (Vetta had dual amp ability).  Since it had the dual amp/stereo output ability, you could essentially have two separate mono rigs going using the Variax and the Guitar inputs at the same time.  And you could even use your own stompboxes in the FX loop and ,utilizing the dual amp option, actually have two different stomp box paths for each Guitar using the FX loop.  Well the next thing out was the X3 with both of my suggestions (upgraded a bit) in it.  Was it from me and my suggestions or did they come up with it themselves?  My ego likes to think so.  Anyway, it's just to show that I don't think suggestions on this forum go unnoticed

Hello Line 6ers,

We want you to know that we’re changing how we provide you support.

Previously, our forums were used as the mechanism to ask the Line 6 tech support staff and the community at large a question. The forums are still a good place to find advice about tone, computer configuration, and subjective questions about sound and application from other Line 6 users. The way to ask our tech support staff a direct question now is via a support ticket.

To create a support ticket, please go to http://Line6.com/support and select 'Contact Technical Support'.  To see your ticket, click My Account, then click Support Tickets.

Before asking us a direct question, we ask that you please look at our Knowledge Base, video tutorials, forums and manuals, as the answer you are looking for is probably already there. Additionally, a search made in our forums may show that your question has previously been asked and answered.

Marking a post as a question tells the community that you’re looking for help. Doing so also gives other members the incentive to answer it for points you can award them for helpful and correct answers.

Best regards,

Yes I've seen that, and a policy like that was in place when I made those suggestions.  And it may be enforced more strictly than it was back then........but I bet they still take a peek every now and then. :D   And let me say, it's still better and more efficient to go through the official channels........bit I STILL bet they take a peek every now and then. :D

Big "Thumbs Up"  :D  for fixing "Ghost Notes" on altered tunings!! Any and All improvements to the general sound, stability & quality of the altered tunings would be a HUGE improvement for me. These tunings are a large part of why I was interested in the Variax in the first place, and if bad notes are bleeding through the signal, they're completely unusable.

Here's another request for the nylon string model.

I'd also like to have option to set up bass guitars in the custom banks: A Jazz bass, P-bass, 5 string, even an acoustic.

Bass guitars are an option in the GR-55 even when in guitar mode.

REALLY! Nylon, P-bass (5-string version), ac/el bass (actually, I might get that one from WB - haven't thought of trying it).

How about a "treble-bleed" feature for the volume control.  For those unfamiliar with the term, it means that as you turn down the volume on a modeled instrument, the tone does not alter.

Sounds good to me!

I have a new model wish.  I haven't read all the pages to see if it was already requested.  Mandolin !

That would be great! I tried modeling one in WB, but can't be done with the programmed-in limitations of only one octave tuning variation. Same goes for making a banjo model - can't tune the A up to the high G (one full step short of two octaves).

The ability to link/change presets in the HD500 directly from the JTV....flipping your pickup selector switch not only changes the guitar model, but changes to your chosen preset in the HD500, all set-up in Workbench.

With some of the small stages I play on, this would be wonderful!

It wouldn't be too hard for Line6 to incorperate different guitars in workbench... Would it. Since your JTV can handle so many guitars and you can place them anywhere on the model knob, make a wider variety of guitars. That way if you liked the thin-line tele... Bam.... Liked the Strat with the maple neck.... Bam....A thin-line with a maple strat neck or rosewood or ebony fingerboard!!!! That would not be difficult in WB!!!! Or would it?

it only works *IF* the guitar already exists in the firmware... (and the internal storage is not infinite)

its not as simple as just adding things in the workbench software.

and they aren't about to support users customizing their firmware...

in case you haven't noticed... they have a hard enough keeping up with the firmware as is....

not that they don't do a good job... but users will always have a wide range of issues, and they are easier to address from a single known firmware.

as in fix it once... and you fix it for alot of users...

Add what is removed from 1.9 (bodies & pickups-yeah additional the old strat without replacing the new) and reduce completely the lag!

If you mean lag from alt tuning, that will never happen, sorry. They can reduce it, but not completely.

Latency and Quality balance eachother out when it comes to pitch shifting technology.

Now here's what I suggest: End alt tuning warble, PLEASE.

Hammer ons/Pull offs above the 12th fret are annoying and almost impossible.

So, I'm not sure this has been requested before.  Please add more controls in the Workbench in order to shape the sound.  Example: a 5-10 band graphic eq on each pickup in order to boost/cut frequencies.  This and other tone shaping tools would allow us to build the equjivalent of "active' guitars and custom models that don't actually exist.  Thanks.

Fix the Rick 12!  Not even half-way there to my real Rick 12.

Pitch shifting will never be spot on, especially something pitch shifted a whole octave up. They've got it pretty close imo. You might be asking the impossible. Perhaps they can fix the tonality as much as possible, but you're never going to get the exact representation of the lower gauge strings from a pitch shifter shifting heavy gauge strings to sound a higher pitch.

I believe the Variax already has some timbre preserving going on in the pitch shifting stages, so there's not more they can do after that.

It would be nice though if they could get it to sound at least as good as the 12 string acoustic.

Yeah I had big hopes for the JTV and the Rick models figuring 10 years newer tech there would be substantial improvement, but the improvement was really little to none over the previous generation other than the ability to alt tune now.

That's one of the reasons why I settled on getting a Variax 600 over a new Variax, because I knew if I waited, it would take forever. If I had enough money for a JTV, I'd have to be from some type of income, and if I had that I could still get a JTV even though I got my 600.

The HD does make a nice difference between the JTVs and old Variaxes though. I also do find the alt tuning knob to be a big feature.
