Engl e530 (using poweramp head section) + podhd500x

Hi everyone,

First, please forgive me for my bad english (may be a part of my problem... ;)).

I have read a lot on the 4 cables method, etc but i havnt been able to make my gear right:

My preamp is a Engl e530 / i use the poweramp section of a RD5H Randall head (still waiting for a poweramp), but don't think that s an issue.

Like a lot of people, i want to use my podhd500x only for FX (i bought it in first place for using it like a preamp but had a deal on the engl and felt in love with it).

To connect the randall to the poweramp, i use the randall return of the fx loop into right line out of the engl.

I really try to follow step by step the 4 cable method but...nothing but noise or ...well just nothing.

Do you have any idea ? Is someone here using e530 + podhd500x ?

I am about to sell the pod...

Thx

Guillaume

For the 4CM the routing should be something like.

Guitar -> Input of POD HD

POD HD EFX loop out -> Input of Engl Preamp (you have to put the EFX loop block in your preset for this to work)

Engl Preamp Output -> POD HD EFX loop return (it is stereo so just use the left input)

POD HD Output -> Power amp input. (for your Randall it would probably be marked as RETURN)

To test problems make sure that your signal can get all the way through the system. So for example. plug the output of your pre-amp into the return of the Randall power amp return to see you get signal with the guitar plugged directly into the Engl. Then take one more step, like plugging in to the POD and having the output go into the Engl to just to make sure the POD is passing a signal.

Good luck
