Is there a way I can do this?

I put my desktop computer in the closet for awhile because I wanted to buy a notebook and enjoy a smaller footprint and a more compact setup. Only problem is I cannot plug in my real nice JBL Speakers into my notebook. My JBL speakers use quarter inch phono plugs.

But I do have a POD X3 Pro. So I was wondering if there is a way I can plug the cables coming out of my JBL's into the back of my POD X3 Pro, and be able to enjoy those fantastic sounding speakers.

I have never done this. All I know is I would be using my X3 as my sound card and obviously my POD would have to be on for me to use my desktop speakers.

What do you think?

That will work fine. Just connect your X3 to your computer via USB. Set your laptop/notebook Sound control panel to use the X3 as the default soundcard.

You may need to download and install the X3 driver if you have never done so before.

You can use either the 1/4" (unbalanced) or XLR (balanced) X3 outputs. Check the specs of your speakers to decide. There's no right or wrong - just matching output and input levels, and even that's not critical. Use whichever works best for you, especially if you already have cables that will serve the purpose. No real need to buy additional cables if you don't have to.
