JLEpperson
I currently use the HD500 direct to PA in Stereo. I would like to add an Tech 21 Power Engine to monitor on stage. What is the best way to do this? What program settings are best? Will it still be stereo out front and mono to my amp?
DunedinDragon
I would assume you'd take dual XLR's out to the PA and your left (mono) 1/4" to the Power Engine, so yes..you'll be mono on stage and stereo through the PA. Since the Tech 21 is a basic powered cabinet I would also assume you would treat it like any powered monitor so you'd set your output to Line and not Amp. pianoguyy
I agree, but will take it a step further.... The only sound that matters is what the audience hears, which is coming from your XLR. So, regardless of what method you use on stage to hear yourself, you should not be changing any settings to accommodate the stage sound. AlexKenivel
I wouldn't change any output settings on the pod. I would just do your normal thing, and also run a quarter inch cable from a quarter inch out on the pod to the tech 21. The sound won't be exactly like front of house but it probably wont sound horrible. I use to run studio direct through a 4x12 cabinet with worse speakers than that 70 eighty (or whatever) in that power engine and it sounded fine
brue58ski
One thing that the POD X3 has that the HD500 doesn't is you could lock one of the outputs level (XLR or 1/4") and adjust the other's level using the master. So you could have the XLR's level going to the board locked and have the ability to change the level of the 1/4" going to an amp. VERY handy.
