jyanes
So i have read a bunch of posts and wondered if there are any tips to apply to my patches and settings to get the best sound, knowing that i will not have stereo (left/right) and can only use mono (left) XLR to the house. 1. Should i make all my patches pan left 100%? 2. Should i set my XLR out to Mic Level instead of Line level? Anything else to consider? phil_m
If you use one XLR out, it will be summed automatically - no need to hard pan. As far as level, technically the higher the better, but sometimes it freaks out sound guys if they get a line level signal. You might be better off leaving it set to mic, It be important thing to note, perhaps the most important - make sure your channel doesn't have phantom power applied to it. If they can't turn it off, you'll need to forego using the XLR out and use one of the 1/4" outs. Helix and phantom power don't get along. jaminjimlp
both line and mic level where to hot for our Church board so I had to keep the volume control to pull it down a little... we have a Beringer board thats about 10 years old.
DunedinDragon
I use a Mic level coming out of mine, but either should work as long as the person running the sound understands how to gain stage the signal. You shouldn't need to do anything special with your patches. Some people freak out when the put together their patches using a 4CM or going through a guitar amp and then hear what they sound like on a PA because there will likely be a difference. If that happens just use your Global EQ and to dial in what sounds right on one patch and it should take care of the rest.
jyanes
Thanks guys. I guess I need to remember too that when I construct patches or download patches that I put things to mono :(. Can't use stereo effects.

Can't use stereo effects. Sure, you can use stereo effects. It's just that if you're only sending one channel to the board, they'll be summed to mono. The nice thing is that you don't need to change anything in your presets themselves if you're using stereo effects when connecting in mono. If you actually want stereo effects to come through to the board, you'd need to use two channels on the board and hard pan on left and the other right.
