scarygt
I've recently acquired a L3T and I'm running my Helix into it via the Line 6 Link. I want to have a stereo setup and I've read that for guitar frequencies that the L2 stagesources are just fine. If I buy a L2t and/or M speaker will it automatically set it self up as a stereo connection if I L6 Link the two speakers together? If so, will it automatically make the volume levels be equal between the two? Would it be dumb to mix them? If they work together it would save me some cash seeing how much less the L2 stagesource cost. Looking forward to all of your good advice. Thanks, Ralph
silverhead
Yes, if you connect your Helix to an L3t via L6 Link, and then add an L2t/m speaker also via L6 Link the speakers will configure themselves as a stereo pair. If you set the volume levels of both the L3t and L2t/m speakers to the 'notch' point they will be at equal volume levels. You would manage the overall volume with the Helix Master volume level. scarygt
Thanks Silverhead. I'm still on the fence on if I should just pay the extra money and get a second L3T. I was getting some wonderful sounds out of it today with the master volume at about 40% and my Helix volume set at 1 o'clock. Will the L3T sound better than the L2T or will they sound almost identical?? Thanks, Ralph
silverhead
I can't say whether it will sound better to you but the L3 has two large speaker cones and the L2 has one. The two speakers allow for better frequency separation and a fuller sound. Is that better? Probably but only you can decide based on what your ears tell you. Personally, I went with two L3t. I don't have an L2 speaker.
cruisinon2
Another question to consider is what are you gonna do with the rig? Stereo FX are great for recording, or even just goofing around unaccompanied, but if you're playing live, trying to run in stereo is usually a clusterf***. The one guy who's standing dead center between your speakers will be the only one hearing all the nifty stereo FX...it's gonna sound weird everywhere else in the room.
