Saving 8 Voicings On Dt25

Hello everyone!

I've a question related with new firmware 2.0...

Working without POD HD, can we actually save 8 voicings (4 topologies x 2 channels)? I thought, even with the new firmware, we're only able to save one voicing in each channel. The only thing new would be the variety of amps available.

Anyone able to clarify that?

Thank you all!

Depends on the way, you look at it. You can define - as you wrote - four different voicings per channel (pre amplifier and power amp topology) and change the posibilities for your DT completely. But with the channel switch you choose the last selected voicing. And here you can select the different voicings with the voicings switch instantly. This will become the next last saved voicing.

my strategy is a bit different than Greg's but it depends on your needs...

i put my clean voicings in channel A, and my gain voicings in channel B

makes it easier on my ears when switching voicings because the gain amps react wildly different to knob settings that are good for clean amps.

Hey Zap ... curious ... what preamps do you use for your 4 clean & 4 crunch voicings?

Thanks I'll check them out ... I tend to use the Fender Twin clean and AC30 for crunch but always looking for alternatives. Haven't explored the SLO stuff much but many seem to like those models.

If i remember correctly

clean:

SLO clean

fender blackface

ac15

ac30

crunch:

SLO crunch

SLO OD

JCM800

Park 75

Yeah i don't do pure clean that often, the object for me was just to put the more "gain" oriented amps on channel B

at first i tried being clever by putting all 3 SLO channels on one channel...

the knob settings that work for SLO clean, will just about take your head off when switching topologies.

that's kind of what i was working around. :)

So, if I understand correctly, working without POD HD,  we can actually SAVE 8 presets, and the amp will remember them when we switch back and fourth between channels and topologies.

For that, the best way would be setup the amp with "DT Edit" application, and midi cables?

Thank you guys!

Yes

Sort of ... the amp remembers the amp model, topology and class settings, but the gain, bass, mid, treble and reverb and volume levels are per channel (whatever they are currently set to). The DT is a two channel amp with different options per channel. This is why Zap has set up his amp with a clean channel and a drive channel - so he can change the topology (amp model) without having to change the other settings manually every time.

I only switch between the 2 channels when playing live, so this really isn't an issue for me :-)

I set up mine using the MIDI function on the HD500 - just a patch set up to send MIDI messages - I've not tried the DT Edit or the iPhone app, but I think others have used these successfully.

DT Edit is amazingly simple and effective to use.  Like the others have said, when you change voicings, you still have the same knob settings so beware!  It is not like changing a patch with the POD HD where knob settings and all other parameters change too...
