Dt25 H500 Bright And Vol Boost After Patch Change

I already posted this in the HD500 forum but did not get much response, so I am reposting here just in case there are some DT25 users on this forum who have experienced same issue.

I have a JTV59, and HD500 and a DT25.  The HD500 and DT25 are on latest levels of flash and drivers and the JTV is still back on 1.71.  I connect the JTV via VDI to HD500 and the HD500 via L6 Link to DT25.

Other than sometimes not getting any sound of the DT25, which is cured by switching everything off and then back on, I have not had any issues until now, just after I updated the HD500 to the latest level of drivers for the HD500X support, which I didn't need but I like to keep the software up to the latest levels.

Now, when I switch from a patch with an AC15 PRE to a PLEXI LEAD 100 NRM PRE, most  times I get a very bright sound, almost like it has switched to the PLEXI LEAD 100 BRT PRE on steroids, and when I press the FS again it returns to the expected warm PLEXI LEAD 100 NRM PRE sound.   Sometimes it will work correctly first time, but most times I have to press the FS twice because first push results in this bright sound and apparently louder volume and second push gives me the expected saved patch sound.     I thought at first it was something to do with FS8 which is where the PLEXI LEAD patch is assigned, but I tried moving it to FS5 in a different bank, and it still did the super bright sound on first switch when swapping from an AC15 PRE patch, and then a second press resulted in normal sound.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers and reinstalling the flash memory, resetting global parameters, and also reloading the SET LIST patches from my PC backup.  But the problem remains.  I have also reproduced it using the AC30 TB PRE,  and have reproduced it going to PHD PRE,  JT45 NRM PRE, and BF LUX VIB PRE.  Weird.  It is almost as if some component on the DT25 has either switched in or forgotten  to switch off for the patch change, but on a second request it gets it right.

I have raised a support ticket with Line6 but thought I would see if anyone else experienced this or had a similar problem?   Thanks.

Have you tried narrowing the number of components in this problem. Like run an ordinary guitar lead from HD500 to Dt25 input, set DT25 as a Std amp (via dials on top) and then select the patch on the HD500. Do you get the same problem. If yes then probably not the Dt25.

Thanks for the suggestion anonyrat.  I set up my HD500 and DT25 today to recreate the problem and then to see if I could reproduce it using your suggested test.  Unbelievably, I could not get it to reproduce the original problem, however, it did decide to give me a new symptom once in a while, which was it simply produced no sound when I changed patch, until I hit the same patch button again.  I played for about 30 minutes swapping between patches that had previously shown the original error and about 90% of the time it worked fine - but then once in a while it would not produce any sound.    I have had the HD500/DT25 combo do the "no sound" scenario before, but it was very rare - and when it did happen it was more likely to be only when everything had first been switched on, and needed a complete power off, power on process to reinstate. Once or twice it has had the "no sound" in the middle of a band rehearsal, quickly rectified by hitting the patch button again.  However, during the 30 minutes I was messing around today, it happened several times - but then again I was swapping patches a lot trying to recreate my original issue.

I then tried to recreate this "no sound" issue without using the L6 link, and just plugging directly into the DT25 from the HD500 using standard jack cable.  I tried for about 10 minutes but could not get it to go wrong.  As the problem is intermittent, this is hardly a conclusive test, but it had happened when connected via the L6 Link within a 10 minute time frame, so I think it is looking more likely it is something to do with the HD500 to DT25 connection via L6 LINK, and it seems to be the DT25 not responding to a control message from the HD500 so it does not reconfigure itself correctly on first request but needs a resend of the message to complete it's setting changes.  But as it is intermittent it really is  going to be next to impossible for Line6 to reproduce unless they happen to have an HD500/DT25 setup that is already doing it.

Frustrated!

"No Sound issue"

I use a hd500x with two dt25 (Stereo)

Since i use the hd500x via l6 link I get the same no sound problem.

That means only one of my dt25 amps is working, the other is mute.

When i press the Patch Button again, both amps are working.

What Could be the reason?

Hi ozbadman, yes I have a support ticket ongoing, but unfortunately not getting very far with it - it has not been updated in days although I have put updates in. The initial response was "it's caused by the flash upgrade as we often re-tweak our sounds - so just re-tweak your settings."  - despite the fact that clearly the problem described was not due to the flash upgrade and was intermittent and it came back regardless of whether I had re-tweaked my settings.  But now the "no sound" on patch change issue is there and I have put that in the ticket - but no answer so far.

Perhaps Ruben40 can also raise a support ticket to ask about the same problem.

I believe I am having this, or a similar problem.

I'm not using the JTV but am using HD500 to DT25.

Sometimes when I change the patch it turns OFF the amp in the patch. It's loud cos fx are running straight to output and I use the amp vol to keep things turned down so I can keep the master vol on the DT fairly high.

Push the FS again and it's OK or turn the amp ON with Edit and it's OK.

Is this what's happening to you?

I'd like a solution too.

Hi SteveGordon, thanks for your post.  No - that is not what is happening with me.  I literally get no sound - as if I have muted the output - hitting the patch button again seems to unmute or restore the sound.  But it is not consistent - it's an intermittent issue, I never know when it will happen.
