I bought this amp in 2010, but since 1 year (even more) i have this problem. I read the blogs, forums, and a lot of people have this problem, but nobody knows the solution... or dont write about it.Im tired, i want to fix this issue. senanimach9 Posted August 31, 2013 Share Posted August 31, 2013 What are you doing when it reboots? Mine rebooted just a second ago, it was kinda weird. I was playing with a ton of different settings trying to get a tone down just right, then I accidentally switched amp models while turning another knob and it rebooted. fflbrgst Posted September 3, 2013 Share Posted September 3, 2013 Make sure you have the current revision of firmware installed (need to connect to Spider Monkey via an FBV MkII pedal and USB). Also make sure the power cable is securely plugged in - I've noticed that the power cable on my 75 is not that great, seems like the socket is not tight or maybe not deep enough. senanimach9 Posted September 5, 2013 Share Posted September 5, 2013 Mine just rebooted while I was in INSANE mode, then switched to a preset and I guess the amp couldn't understand that I wasn't in Insane anymore even though the knob was still dialed to Insane. It rebooted and went back to normal. I tried to replicate it and nothing happened but it did happen before when I was scrolling through settings and amps like crazy.. I just noticed what you said about your power socket...mine is pretty loose and seems to want to come out of the amp if I were to tug on the cord at all, is that what yours does? I'm wondering if that's a Line 6 thing or if my amp is defective. I think that's the poor design and not defective. Probably worth 'anchoring' the cable by using an insulated electric 'staple' (leave enough of a 'loop' so you can unplug the cable from the back of the amp when necessary). senanimach9 Posted September 11, 2013 Share Posted September 11, 2013 I realized something the other day.. the outlet that my amp is plugged into will not power my laptops ac adapter, weird huh? I also read about power fluctuations in wall sockets causing spider ivs to reboot if they're connected to the shortboard. So I cleaned any and all electrical connection on the amp just for the heck of it, along with the wall socket and got a decent surge protector to go between the wall and the amp. Glad you found the problem, but this also indicates that the outlet itself if faulty - and worth checking out, might be as simple as replacing it, but could also indicate poor old wiring that needs to be replaced before it overheats and possibly starts a fire. scoti65 Posted February 12, 2014 Share Posted February 12, 2014 Mine has been doing it since I bought it. I've reset it repeatedly. Yesterday on a hunch I installed firmware version 1.52. Guess what, no more reboot issues. I have a feeling it is a programming error with version 2.0. I'm anxious to see if they release a newer revision to see if the trouble returns or not. bluebluetones Posted March 17, 2014 Share Posted March 17, 2014 I wrote extensively on this topic many years ago, when I bought the Spider IV 150 brand new upon release. I initially thought I had solved the problem, and I never had any more re-boots. I think I came to the conclusion that I needed a power conditioner on the wall outlet I use? Fast forward to now - my original Spider IV 150 is gone, lost to the world of trading gear and amplifiers. But I sure missed that great tone (especially Clean Green...) so I picked up another Spider IV150. While recently editing a patch I had created, in the middle of nowhere, "thump"....the amp shuts down and starts again. I can't believe it. You know, I don't mind spending a bit of money to fix this problem so if anyone from Line 6 can tell me officially what need replacing I would be so happy! Is is the "main board?"
