The_Silence
I've been tinkering with a loaner HD500 for a couple of weeks and still debating on whether or not to buy it. Being a Variax 500 owner I love the idea of having this puppy, but I've been experiencing one problem: I can't for the life of me hear ANY difference from the default cab sound on any amp when I switch between different mics or adjust any cab parameters (E.R., decay, resonance, etc.). I know mics well enough to know I should be hearing some pretty significant differences in sound between, say, an SM57 and a Coles 4038, but when I switch between any of them, they sound exactly the same! Granted, I'm listening on pretty crappy speakers, but I most definitely should be hearing at least some small difference in sound. I have the heaphone output going straight in to the aux input of my stereo, but I've experimented with XLR and 1/4 outs into interfaces and still nothing. I've skimmed all of the applicable manuals for any clues, I've checked forums, youtube vids, and haven't come across anyone having a similar issue. I really hope It's just me being retarded and overlooking some simple thing, because aside from this issue I really like it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! toneman2121
i would try headphones and a different amp. then if that doesn't work reflash and and global reset. The_Silence
how did you set the output mode? the cab dep parameters are active only in "studio/direct" output mode We have a winner! I had been wondering about an output mode, actually. I assumed it would have been a physical switch on the unit, like on my Pod 2.0. But man, now I have that giant, airy cab sound I've been needing! Cheers!
