Just want to share the connection experience with the iPad.

(I purchased a cheap iPAD 1st generation from e-bay):

All following described combinations work.

1) I tried the new Samsung WiFi dongle WIS12ABGNX.

I tried to plug it in direct and with USB hub.

I am using a powered USB hub which is recommended if you want to connect multiple USB sticks.

( I connected 3 USB memory sticks, all are recognized)

It is recommended to use the dongle on the 1st USB output.

2) I tried USB to WiFi dongle from Apple and connected:

- Linksys WRT600N

- Linksys WRT54GS

- D-link DIR-651

If the M20d software on the iPAD cannot connect:

- close the program

- go to iPAD settings

- disable WiFi (wait a few seconds)

- re-enable WiFi.

This works great.

The D-link router has less output power then the Linksys.

With the Linksys in my basement I could go outside the house and still control the M20d.

The setup of the router was done via PC, broadcast the ID,

- mixed network

- Radio band = automatic

- WPA2-personal security mode with passphrase to prevent others to log in,

- SSID broadcast enabled

- for encryption I use: WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES

I hope this information helps.

Great post, Hardy !

The time and trouble you took with it will now save untold heartache for countless others worldwide ...and take it from an old codger, whatever goes around really does come around.

(Keep up the good work. Your reward may not be in a form that you expect, but it will eventually reach you. )

Hey this is great info I'll tell you my experience I had yesterday with my new iPad and using the m20d and the USB NON powered USB hub with an 8gig SanDisk flash drive that has songs on it and the engenius USB dongle I was able to walk over 200 ft from the PA system and still operated great, If I had thought about it I would've went further until I saw how far that it actually worked.

sometimes when you switch off the interface and then try to come back I couldn't connect I will use your solution with the turn Wi-Fi on and off, What I did to get the connection back was go and unplug the USB Wi-Fi dongle and plug it back in and then it would find it which would require walking back over to the M 20 D.

I have hooked up two 1200 Watt speakers from Behringer. (BTW, they sound absolutely great with the M20d) I never could test the full power, too loud for my ears... . So, ---- with the linksys router and the system in the basement I went with the tab outside in the yard and turned up the speakers remotely..... That was fun  :D . The entire neighborhood had to listen to my music  ....

For what's it worth I was tearing my hair out over the same problem. But I had a different resolution.

I just purchased a m20d - amazing piece of hardware. Except that no matter what procedure I followed, I couldn't get my iPad 2 to connect.

Like other posters here I bought a Samsung WIS12ABGNX. I made sure I had firmware 1.20 for the m20d installed and the lastest version of the iPad app. But no dice.

That is until I upgraded to iOS 7.0.1 on my iPad (I was using iOS 6). As soon as I upgraded I was able to connect with the m20d instantly.

It takes about 10 minutes for the m20d to connect to my home wifi network for some reason (i.e. when I'm using the non-standalone mode).

But being able to use the m20d's standalone wifi capabilities with the WIS12ABGNX and iPad2  is fantastic. I'm sure it will come in handy soon when I take it to our band's practice area.

Anyway I hope this helps anyone else who is having problems.
