Configuring HD500X

Hi all,

I just bought a Pod HD500X and I spent most of the afternoon configuring my first patch. I have it set to "foot switch" mode so I can run the board through my tube amp via the "4 cable method". It's a powerful unit and it greatly expanded what I am able to do. I do have one question about running the board in foot switch mode. Am I able to modify the bank cycling foot switches? I plan on creating a couple of patches, but I don't want to run in "ABCD" so I can retain better control over the signal chain for each patch as I'm running some of the effects through an effects loop. Are you limited to cycling through presets consecutively (while in foot switch mode) using the tiny preset selector knob under the save button? It would be nice to have the option to configure the bank switches so I can opt to go through my presets consecutively with flip of those switches efficiently while in foot switch mode without the need to use the small knob to cycle through everything.

Thanks!

The hd500x sound great in my blackstar amp, but ones i plug it direct to my mixer board the distortion it sounded like a mosquito, awful sound. is there anything that i might be doing wrong?

The HD500x takes a little work to setup with PA. In particular, you need to select the right output mode. Have a look at you manual for guidance, but here is the gist:

Studio/Direct: Typically the best option when connecting “Direct†to a mixing console or recording device. This signal includes “Studio†Cab Models, Mic Model and an “AIR†convolution to best emulate a mic’ed amp within a room.

Combo and Stack settings: Optimizes your tone for connecting to an external amplifier. The signal includes “Live†Cab Models, with no Mic Model or “AIR†convolution, with a special EQ curve added for each.

Combo Front & Stack Front: For connecting into the front input of a typical combo amp or amp head + external cab, respectively.

Combo Power Amp & Stack Power Amp: For connecting to the power amp of a combo or head amp.

Keep in mind that patches you designed to use with your amp will have to be rebuilt/tweaked for use with a PA as they very different.
