scott58
Got almost 10 years out of it, but the majority of the switches finally stopped working and I was sad to see it go. Between it, my Variax 700 and Valve Jr I had countless hours of enjoyment. The good news is I ordered a used Pod HD Bean (GF says I have to wait til xmas to open it). So i'll be back in form in no time. It will be interesting to see if what I found with the XT still holds true. The vast majority of the time, unless i'm using a 12 string or acoustic model, My Variax stays on Rick 360 with a Soldano amp model. Found that combination early on and it has stayed with me other then effects changes. I actually get a pretty fair Gilmorish tone with this base. I'm hoping the Bean will accept my pedals the way the XT did as I have 2 (Wampler Superplextortion and H2O Liquid chorus/delay) I just can't seem to replace. I never connected the XT to a computer, but I think with this Bean i'll attempt to get into to 21st century and give it a try. Thanks to Line 6 for putting this massive variety of tones in the hands of the novice player.
joel_brown
Although the PODHD will sound better, it will be frustrating at first. Be patient and ask questions. There's a lot of good people here to help you. Make sure your PODHD has the latest firmware and start with the Studio Direct output setting. And yes we all hate the EQs in percentage instead of HZ. scott58
Thanks for the reply. I always went from guitar to pedals to POD to Valve Junior. Now that the effects can go before and after the amp models should I change something? Often thought about putting the H2O after the POD but never did it. Also looking forward to trying 2 amp models. Thanks for the link.
joel_brown
Don't change what you've been doing. Start there and experiment, tweak, test, and ask questions.
