Where are all the new Tones after the update?

Immediately after the 2.1 Helix update, some forum members posted about great new high-gain sounds they were achieving with new amps and a new distortion pedal included in the update.

I am more a download-from-customtone fan and modify the tones for my own equipment, rather than start from scratch and build my own tones.

I'm surprised there are no new tones taking advantage of the new amps and effects.  Anyone want to upload what they've been able to create with the new amps and distortion effect(s)?

I would love, as I am sure others would too, to hear the new tones being achieved.  Thanks!

By the time someone decides to upload one, then lets you know, then you download it....couldn't you just have built a patch on your own?

Work, work, work...I'm waiting on Pfizer to market a pill that will just make me think everything sounds great. Effortless tonal nirvana, here I come!!! ;)

I could.  But I mentioned in my post, I'd like to hear what others have come up with .

I appreciate your effort to help; I already replaced an existing tone amp with the rectifier and it improved the sound.  But I'm still hoping to hear what some of the superior tone-makers are coming up with.

On Customtone? I suppose there are a few superior tone makers but it's a completely unregulated site. Anyone can post anything and call it what they want. In my experience a superior tone on Customtone is a very rare find indeed.

I have found some gems on customtone.  I am not in a good routine... I download most of the new tones once a week, try them out, and keep the one or two that are unique to my collection and sound great.

Superior according to whom? I mean, who gets to decide that?

Feel free to change the words "superior tone-makers" to "helix tone-makers".  So now it can read "...I'm still hoping to hear what some of the helix tone-makers are coming up with.

Feel better now?

This is exactly the type of comment that causes people to look down on this forum.

talonmm asks a question thats important to him, and because it wasnt perfectly worded, you troll on in to call him out on it..

You know what hes trying to say, but instead you choose to overlook the context of the post and make a shallow remark about something completely trivial.

If its that important to you to visit an online forum every day and get your post count up, to appear to be an experienced user, the least you could do is try and be meaningful.

Im sure this sounds pretty elementary, but why not just type "hi gain archon" (or whatever) into the search field? That should give you everything you need no?

Seriously?! How do you justify superiority in something as subjective as guitar tone? It's not a matter of choosing an incorrect word and I am absolutely not trolling the poster. I asked the question because people use words like that far too often on something that cannot be quantified. There is no "superior" when it comes to guitar tone, there is only what we personally prefer.

I will admit that the Helix is, to me, a superior device because it is capable of giving a lot of us the sound we're after. Is it superior to say, the AX8? Well, if I couldn't get an AX8 to do what the Helix does for me, then yes, the Helix would be, for me, the superior device. But only for me. Is it superior to every other modeler available? I'd bet that there are some who would disagree.

And All along I thought it was because everyone was taller than we were...

Ok, maybe that a little too :) but in all seriousness, its frustrating to hear that stuff, because ive seen what a helpful bunch this crew can be, and such comments just prove them to be correct.

Look i apologize for being overly critical myself, but i think youre failing to see the point for benefit of your argument.

He didnt say anything about a "superior guitar tone"...........His use of the word "superior" referred to the "superior programmers".  I mean you had to see that? There are in fact,  people better than others at programming sounds on the Helix. Precisely why the OP chooses to download tones instead of spending his time tweaking..or why people choose to buy presets from other creators.....and thats cool. Who am i to tell anyone how to use their tools.

...and while i disagree with your opinion that "there is no "superior" when it comes to guitar tone"  I'll leave that discussion for the appropriate thread.

I'll let you know what I find - I like to see what others are doing too.  I mean, I try my own stuff as I'm sure you do, but it would be niaive at best and arrogant at worst to assume no-one could come up with something better (or even just surprising and fresh).  Sorry everyone on here isn't being entirely helpful - remember, never argue with an idiot: they'll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience ...

Thank you for putting into words a much better reply than I could come up with.

If there are forum members that want to lecture me or talk down to me because of a word or two that I used, or the concept that I want to see what others are doing rather than having me build tones from scratch, then please do not reply to my post and just move along to another topic that you feel you can help with or nicely comment on.

Thanks.

When I first got my Helix, I downloaded a bunch of presets from Customtone, and was surprised at how none of them seemed to sound like the song or artist they were supposed to be emulating. I've bought most all of Glenn DeLaunne's and Freeman's presets and I find all of them to be very usable and a great base to work off of. But, I don't think there's a single one of even the purchased patches that I haven't tweaked to my own needs. When you consider the difference in tone between guitars and playback systems, it would be really unusual to find one that needed no tweaks.

So, my suggestion is to use the few that are close to what you are looking for, as a base to refine your own tweaking abilities. I guess I'd rather spend my time learning the ins and outs of the Helix for myself, rather than hoping to find a perfect gem on customtone. Good luck.
