Good day,

i want to buy a new amp but i'am a bit stuck.

should i go for the spider V 60 and pedal board or should i take the firehawk FX pedal with a other amp or with the spider V

i only play at home but i do like the cubase software that comes with the spider V and the acoustic enhancement and wireless option

but i like the app for the Firehawk more and i want to keep things simple

some tips maybe!!!

The Spider V's acoustic handling and the built in wireless features are definitely a big plus. Spider V does have an app, very similar to Firehawk, you can edit on, however it is not bluetooth and you must be connected via a cable to the amp. Spider V is definitely simple, you have all modeling and sound reproduction in one box, with some nice add ons (G10t wireless, FBV3). The Firehawk FX would require an amp or speaker. A lot of people run modeling units like the Firehawk FX through a guitar amp via 4 cable method or through a FRFR (full range flat response) speaker.

Here's my opinion.

Option 1 : Other Amp + Firehawk.

Choose this option if you...

  - dial your tone or stream music via Bluetooth. (Unable to edit via PC)

  - prefer tones search rather than setup your sound by yourself.

  - prefer tones match function.

Option 2 : Spider V +  FBV3

Choose this option if you....

   - dial your tone or stream music via USB Cable. (Unable to edit via PC)

   - prefer tones search rather than setup your sound by yourself.

   - if you thought FBV3 cost is worth. (Actually, you can use other FBV like FBV shortboard or FBV Express MkII but FBV3 is fully supported Spider V)

   - You love Drums loop/ Metronome/ Built-in WiFi/Full Ranged Speaker in Spider V 60 / 120 / 240

Option 3 : Other AMP +  POD HD500X

This is my favorite option......   :P

   - You must prefer editing your tones via PC Editor rather than Bluetooth.

   - As I checked most reviews, I thought POD HD500X offers better sound than Firehawk or Spider V.

For example, you can freely combine AMP, Cabs, Effects as you like. I learnt that you can select AMP and Compressor more than 1 model at the same time. Check Craig Baker's review https://www.amazon.com/Line-99-060-2105-Firehawk-Guitar-Multi-Effects/dp/B00SLHWZ0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487924616&sr=8-1&keywords=Firehawk

   - No tones search, tones match, drum loop.

  • 1 year later...

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I'm having the same exact dilemma having come to the realization the newest Fender Mustang GT with iPhone app didn't quite cut it. I love the Firehawk FX Remote app and the Spider V app is decent as well. I have the Spider V 120 with FVB3 at home right now and it all works nicely but I'm not sure I love the tone. Wondering if Firehawk FX will sound better through an older Mustang III/V2.

Bottom line, I'm definitely bought into controlling my next set-up via iPad/iPhone and I think Line 6 has the best interface/features and color coded foot controllers.

What did you end up doing doing Bemse210876?
