Resonance From Dt25 Valves

Best Answer GrahamGunn , 29 September 2013 - 05:22 AM

The amp had (Russian) Electro Harmonix EL84 valves that needed to be replaced. In the end I replaced them with ones from Watford valves. Much better. Go to the full post

For all options I-IV on my DT25 there is a resonance with any C# note on the guitar. (It's not the guitar, or the player!)
Any ideas?

Is this a plate rattle? maybe...If so, you might can verify it better with a pencil...tap each tube with a pencil, if you hear it...you have some microphonics and you need new tubes...if the amp is less than 90 days, I think Line 6 has a 90 day warranty on the tubes...

I am getting a similar problem with my spider valve when I play a B maj chord. I hit the chord, then mute the guitar and a resonance note at 192Hz just sings out and wont go away until I turn the standby off. Very annoying as I start in a new band next week.

I can send a sound file if need be.

My DT25 came fitted with cheap Chinese valves - I changed them for decent quality Russian ones and it sounds much better

Also, spaceatl, the pencil test worked much better when the amp was on!
However it then sent the whole amp microphonic. Still, as I said, much better now.
