Spider II 210 and fbv shortboard programming

Recommended Posts

I assume you would do it the same as with the Spider IV - not done with the Shortboard at all.  The pedal just selects the presets (and FXs used).

1) call up the patch you want to 'copy'

2) save it to the new location via standard method using amp's buttons/controls

I'm really looking to copy from one bank to another like from setting 1A to 4C. I know that copying from one setting to another on the same bank is just selecting the preset you want to duplicate on the amp face and then press and hold the channel you want to copy it to. (It does not work when I try it from the shortboard.)

But copying from one bank to another is a mystery to me. If I want to copy from 1A to 4C, how do I get to the C bank to select the destination? The amp without the shortboard only allows for 1 bank of 4 presets.

The short blurb in the amp manual is useless.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know the Spider II - how many User Patch locations does it have?  If you cannot access bank 4 from the amp front, then there is no bank 4!  From what you say, there is only 1 bank, with 4 preset locations.

I have an old II but its the wee 15 watt so no FBV.

So guessing here: Each time you bank up or down you should be able to save the current patch into the new bank's A, B, C or D by holding down the button of what channel you want to save to. Worth a try.

Yes that manual is slim. :0

The amp without the FBV shortboard only allows you to access 4 presets. If you have the shortboard you can access 32 presets; 8 banks of 4 presets each.

All programming is done from the amp, not the board but I don't know a way to access the presets on banks 2 thru 9 without the board. The only way to access banks 2 thru 9 is by clicking the Up/Down button on the shortboard.

To copy a setting you select the preset you want to duplicate, then you press and hold the destination channel until it blinks green. But this is only on the same bank.

If I want to copy preset 1A to 3A I can do that. But if I want to copy preset 1A to 3B I cannot. This is what I'm trying to figure out.

I have the shortboard. It's the one in my signature. The bank up/down buttons are on the left and the 4 presets per bank are on the bottom row, left.

If I want to copy preset 1A to 1B, I select bank 1A as my source that I want to copy from and then bank up to bank 2 to copy to, now 2A is selected instead of 1A.

What I want to know is how do I get to bank 2 without having my source preset changed to that bank.

So if you are in bank 1, on preset A and you hit the FBV bank up it switches to bank 2 preset A automatically? if so, then it looks like you probably have to manually duplicate the settings by hand per bank.

Correct. Manual settings everytime is what I'm trying to avoid. Only being able to copy within the same bank is pretty bad engineering.

They offer computer software that u plug your shortboard directly into your computer. I haven't got in depth with it yet. But I'm about to. It easily allows u to pick whatever preset u want and put in whatever bank and number u want. It also allows full control of all the settings within that preset. When done, it re programs your board to the settings u just made. Tis supposed to b simple. I think I'll check it out before the band gets here.

The Spider II did not have this option.

From the manual (you can access it here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f059357c410f/application/pdf/Spider%20II%20User%20Manual.pdf ):

Saving with FBV Shortboard: To prepare for saving,

it’s a good idea to browse through the various factorystored

preset sounds to decide which you can do without.

Make a note of their Bank number and Channel letter

so you can save your own sounds there instead.

Save: Step on the FX LOOP switch until “NAME

EDIT†is displayed. The Shortboard’s COMP and MOD

switches then select one of the characters of the channel

name so you can edit it. The DELAY and REVERB

switches choose from the available letters, numbers and

symbols. The Bank Up and Bank Down switches then

pick a Bank you’d like to save within.

Complete the Save: Press the A, B, C or D switch

to store to that Channel Memory in the chosen Bank.

The display will show “SAVINGâ€. Congratulations,

you’re all done!

This worked for me...

1 - Bring up the setting you want to copy and select it to make it active.

2 - Use the shortboard and move to the location where you want to store the copy.

Important: DO NOT press any of the shortboard's A,B,C, or D footswitches, I repeat DO NOT press the footswitch.

3 -  Press and hold the corresponding A,B,C,D channel button on the AMP.

4 - Wait for the amp light to cycle red to green back to red

5 - Release the AMP button.

6 - Your setting was just copied (and your original should still be intact.)

Give it a try. Hope that helps.

Example:

To copy 1A to 3B, select 1A, use the footpedal to move to bank 3, DO NOT use the pedals A,B,C,D buttons, then press and hold the AMP's storage button until the light sequence says it's stored..
